Jersey City Network

Any and all comments/suggestions would be much appreciated!

I intend to promote this locally in Jersey City (NJ), if I can think of a feasible way. I'm 8 hours from there, however, so it might be a little tricky. It is also my dream that I can get some businesses in Jersey City to offer online specials to visitors -- but first I must get the word out to some of those quarter-million residents! :xf.love:

Looks great :tu: ... start with reciprocal linkings and working on its SEO, IMHO. Then, as you mention, "partner" with local businesses in offering discounts and specials - and then offer advertising to those and other local entities as you begin to track its traffic and response rates, etc. I think it's an excellent use of a developed GEO .MOBI website! We need more of 'em ... :music: :yell:

Hey egnited, I live literally 10 min from Jersey City (use to work there).
Your best bet is to just build up the content
(good starting point is the link that Jeff gave you).

Theres a big mall in JC that has the train connected to it.
In my opinion, that should be the mecca of foottraffic
Best of luck!

Thank you both! I will be working hard to provide unique and useful content to my site.

Does anyone have any suggestions as to how I should go about advertising the site to those in the Jersey City area? DomainTakers, can you think of any particular ways to promote it, since you are familiar with the area? Would it be a good idea to try working out some advertising on popular Jersey City websites, or perhaps even in a local newspaper?

Im working on developing HLH.mobi (Hoboken Lives Here).
Its a town next to Jersey City (more of a yuppie area, knows for bars, restaurants).

As for advertising, it mainly comes down to how good your content is (IMO).
When you start doing local .mobi development, you need "something" that would give someone that hook ya know?

Jersey City (JC) and Hoboken is very train heavy. There are lots of free newspapers that riders take on the way to the train. If you wanted to start small, I would try those type of newspapers. Its less of a circulation, so the rates are lower. Plus, its specified to your geographic area.

If you're going big bang, you try and speak with mall management at Newport Center Mall in Jersey City. You can do it at a mall level ( which is ridiculously expensive) or you can try and target a store. I think the store level is best.

My development efforts are extremely early on, so I'm know where near the execution stage for advertising. Those are mainly just "brainstorming" ideas.

good luck!

GREAT suggestion, thanks much! I found a floorplan and mall directory -- how do you feel about a section on JCN about the mall? Information, directory, etc? Delivered right to a cell phone, I'm thinking that would have potential to take off. Thoughts on that?

I apologize for the double post, but I would really like some thoughts, comments, and suggestions on the Newport Centre Mall page and directory that I've started:

Newport Centre information page:
http://jcn.mobi/newportcentre.html

And in particular, here's a page of the directory that I've started:
http://jcn.mobi/ncm/accessories.html

Yay :tu: or nay :td: ? Should I continue with this idea?

Thanks in advance for any input!! :)

Great start I think.
To advertise within the mall itself, is where it gets tricky.
You get the foot traffic, but now getting the proper eyes to see it.

You have the mall level, and you have the store level.
Safe to say it would be MUCH Cheaper wtih store level

Yeah, I'm not really sure how I'll be able to go about that. Don't really know how mall stores would promote my site...

It's pretty nice. I visited it via my cell phone but have a look at the image attached, check your widths and font size because they need some adjustment.

Good luck.

Oh and it loaded pretty slow :(.

I have updated a few things...how's it look now?
