My Intro into the world of domains

Hi, my name is Jay. I'm new to this site and have been buying domains since Dec 2025. The crypto markets have been slow and I needed a new hobby occupy my time.
I have 83 domains in my portfolio and at least 60 are complete garbage! I'm still waiting for my first sale and understand the sell through rate can be as low as 1-3% of your portfolio.

Advice: Don't start buying Domains for the first time at 4am on a whim. But now I'm watching, reading, and trying to learn from past mistakes.

Welcome Jay! Hope you find this new hobby fun! Haha good lesson, we all live and learn. My general philosophy is quality >>> quantity. A single solid domain at $500 is a much better asset than 1,000 garbage names. Because there’s a better chance for sale and much much lower renewal costs. Sell thru rate largely depends on quality and pricing

Hi Jay, I also joined just one week ago and hand-registered 4 domains, hoping that at least one will sell. If that happens, I'll invest in 100 more domains from auctions and expired/deleted lists. I think almost everyone who enters the domain business starts with the same idea. Let's see how it goes. I'll post my full experience after my first sale.
