domain My God... I just bought a 3-letter .com...

I just bought YFF.com for $1,250 US. Am I an idiot? It's regged til 2007.

Please someone tell me if I'm dumb, smart, or mediocre. Also, please tell me if I should hold onto this domain for a while, develop it, search for end-users, or do you all think I could make money off of it right now? What's my best/smartest option?

*sigh* I'm nervous and shakey. The most I'd spent thus far on a domain was 13 bucks for a 3-character .com. God, I hope this hard-earned money doesn't go down the drain.

I think this is a good buy at the reseller level. "Yff" is actually a surname, and the FF can stand for a lot of things like "Fire Fighter" and "Freedom Fighter" and "Family Foundation". Good luck!

However you did buy in at a high point for 3 letters - highest point in a long while.

When I saw ff I automaticially thought Final Fantasy. Maybe Your Final Fantasy or something. But 1,250 USDs was just too high. But f you keep it a couple of years it could be worth a little more then that. Since it is registered till 2007.

I think you'll do well w/ this domain - something w/ Fantasy Football would be good, there used to be a band here in seattle called 'young fresh fellows' - if they ever make it big well then there ya go.. of course that was like 12 yrs ago so they're probably mechanics by now.. but still.. it's a decent purchase!

lol, yeah, I was looking and trying to find a contact for Young Fresh Fellows but was unable to. I've contacted a few film-making groups and a government agency in Australia, hehe, so hopefully something'll pan out.

I remember when I bought my first 3-letter .com name 3 years ago. I thought I overpaid then, but then proceeded to sell it a year later at 4x what I bought it for...and now I wish I hadn't sold it then, because it's certainly worth more now than what I sold it for! I'm now in a collector mode with the 3-letter names (particularly in .com) and only sell when my financial situation requires me to. I try to purchase when I can as I've come to greatly appreciate their investment potential!

To be honest, I almost bought YFF.com off of ebay yesterday. 3-Letters with Double Letters of quality are a great find and I think you'll do very well in return in a few years time. In the mean time, I'd recommend selecting a good PPC plan for the name so it can make you some additional money until you decide to sell. That way you'll make good money both now and when you decide to sell!
