Just finalised how payment is being made on a keywordTV.co.uk sale.
Yes, I did say keywordTV.co.uk
Phone call out of the blue asking for the name for a small TV channel that some really cool guys in London are putting together. They think UK, only want to reach UK audience, and ended up 'happy as Larry' with .co.uk.
End result $850 on its way. I will give further details when the name has been transferred.
An interesting case where they were originally looking for TV.com, then went .TV and ended up perfectly happy with TV.co.uk.
They wanted a name that fitted their requirements, not those that domainers think are the most important. They didn't care whether it was .tv tv.com or tv.co.uk - as long as it fitted THEIR branding requirements.
...and they NEVER once asked about CPM, uniques, or anything like that.
It's end users that bring real money to the NP table - and in the new world of internet TV perhaps we should be considering that fact more and more. I find it interesting that there are two owners (one TV.com and one .TV) who believed the guys would 'come back begging for the name they own' - only to find themselves waiting in vane for the phone to ring again (or e-mail to ping).
Great guys - wish them well.
Oh, And why did I sell? Because, quite simply they bowled me over with their professionalism.
They were really nice people.
They were genuinely interested in what the televsion they were going to be making.
They phoned me direct and asked for the name (that never happens).
They were polite and very correct in negotiations.
Emotionally, I had no room to say no - If anything I kind of wished I was working with them.
ANd finally - I can use the sum to renew 100plus TV.coms or buy almost 50 brand new .TV names
