I decided to get schüchtern.com, which just expired and is taken in .de, .net, .org, and .at (not bad for an IDN I suppose).

The word has over 2 million Google and at least according to Altavista means "shy" or "shyly" (put in the word and "shyly" comes out, but put in shy or shyly in English and schüchtern comes out). OVT indicates a decent amount of searches in German OVT. Any thoughts on value? Did I waste my time with a German IDN .com?

Note: It appears Germans really use their umlauts. The word with u instead of ü is available in everything.

Hallo!

Schüchtern.com ist only useable, when you own also the non-idn-type schuechtern.com . It would be better under schuechtern.de + schüchtern.de, but i think they aren't free anymore.

I think it's brandable

Germans seem to love their IDNs. But for Germans .de is king. Still the .com should be worth something - and definitely more than the .net, .org, etc.

German IDNs do receive alot of traffic currently and that will only grow with IE7. DE Ovt is a little low for this one (327). It looks like there is a song called "schüchtern" that is probably adding to the popularity. Park it and see what you get.
