My expiring domain was snapped up on GD auction closeouts

Someone picked it up quickly when it went to closeout.

What should I do? I can still renew for 10X the price. Or maybe transfer out?

Honestly my domain kind of sucks and the domain age was high so maybe that's why there was interest. But it's a little frustrating to get no offers and then have people express value in the auctions.

What do you guys usually do? I want to pull a Jason Newby and troll the new owner.

Transfer out, if you want to keep it.

i mean if you were going to let it drop just let it drop. just because a domainer grabbed your domain doesn't make it better than it was.

It has happened to me. I could swear they just did that to make me renew. Who knows what tricks they use to get renewals.. I dont think it was the case but you just never know.. I reacted the same way you are.

Just shrug it off and move on. Don't get sucked in. Check back on the name in a few months you'll see it'll be doing the same thing it was doing with you - nothing.

OK so one person is willing to pay $20, if they are DDC plus they grabbed it at $11 - correct?

Is the name a .COM? The cheapest transfer you can get is Rebel $4 if you haven't already used their offer, or using a coupon at MyDomain $6.22

Just because you do the transfer and then relist doesn't mean the current buyer will follow through and find you again, so if you did all that and listed at $20, you could make a $13-16 profit, excluding that you've had this name for x years and selling fees, so if you renew and make a generic page without listing at a market, you avoid fees.

What price did you have for it before? And where was it for sale? Maybe it was just slightly too high. Also maybe PM the name/details to the above NPers, not me, since they have better insight knowing the name could make a difference

You spent $10, now someone else has spent $10 ......rinse and repeat (much to the registrars delight)

This says it all. At this point, nobody knows the domain better than you so I'd suggest forgetting about it and move on.

I would let it go... the new owner hopes he will get offers, while you know the domain won't likely get any :)

Yes, know when to walk away, having said that there are just a couple I wish I had kept but most drops had their chance and if after a year/maybe two there was no interest it was time to concede... mistake, walk away

You unknowingly answered your own question.

Move on and invest in quality names.

Do I have to cancel privacy in this situation to transfer? I know usually the answer is yes but I have no control over privacy (all I can control is lock, e-mail auth code)
