It seems you are over estimating its value by $249,999.00 to be precise

trouble with this plan is that drop clubs beat you to it....

Much better to approach owners of domain names, inform them that there name is about to drop and offer them money to take it from them.. You will find some are bemused to find you offering money for something they were gonna drop...

I grabbed a real fine 3 l .com for $400 that way and also got given $500 from someone who had apparently forgotten to renew a $$$,$$$ domain... Names regged at netsol from some time ago apparently do not receive a renewal notification...

Theyre the babies you wanna approach...

Understand that feeling. Had that kinda reaction with a few names I really liked but the owner suddenly remember he or she had to renew it ouchh :(

My fingers are itchin', as I'm waiting to see if a couple I bid on at namewinner came through or not. One of them's kinda funny, probably $0 value, but you never know... The other has some nice potential, though it is a .net .... Nothing like dollar.com , though, that woulda been sweet.

well, that's a bit confusing. it was regged in May, many years ago, and shows an expiration date in May. so that's consistent.

are you sure it was supposed to drop in April? and not May?

It was a nice dream, and there's no reason to give it up. Just keep dreaming... because that domain will never drop. It's owned by a billion-dollar, publically-traded international company that uses 'dollar.com' as their primary domain on the net.

If their domain was to go one day past expiration date, that would be a huge deal... maybe even make the nightly news. And remember, a domain has to go somewhere near 60 days past expiration date before it drops for someone else to register.

I think the best plan to aquire dollar.com would be a hostile corporate takeover. So get started on that, and let the dream live!

Just my opinions..

For most cases, I will assume these are the situations you're stucked with when "wanting" a great expiring domain..

1) buying thru owner
-high possibility owner renew --> sell you market value price otherwise they sell it to others
-low possibility owner renew --> sell you very low value price (but give you a lil treat)

2) buying thru snap companies
-high possibility end-users/domainers bumping price in auction --> unrealistic market price
-low possibility end -users/domainers missed the auction --> woah you get a great deal!

So the higher chance of accquiring a premium domain IMO (a.k.a. the more realistic factor of keeping a dream alive) is to be economically affordable (have the $$!).

Cheers,
Flora. :xf.love:
