.MX Discussion and Showcase

Wow, great news about the re release of .mx domains. I think this has huge potential considering the population in mexico is 100 mil. Those who already have a .com.mx or .org.mx domain can pre register teh same domain in .mx extension. Luckily I registered a few months back these domains, please tell me the best in order please:
gun.com.mx
see.com.mx
ear.com.mx
war.com.mx
won.com.mx
cuentas.com.mx (accounts in spanish)
cesta.com.mx (basket in spanish)
cestas.com.mx (baskets)

Hi Nguyen,
Those are decent ones - especially apartment. With regards to selling them, IMHO .mx are long term investments. At the moment it is very hard to resell .mx because they are still new and a lot of good keyword domains are actually still available to be registered. Most of the .mx sales I've seen have been $50-100 (with a few exceptions, such as freelancer.mx which sold for $7,500 and cable.mx which sold for $4,500).

However, I believe that in a few years .mx will become more valuable and one like apartment .mx should fetch at least $2000. I believe the factors that will dictate how valuable these domains will become are 1. whether a shift from .com.mx to .mx will happen (at the moment .com.mx are preferred - google itself redirects google.mx to google.com.mx. However, .mx is shorter and 'cleaner'-looking than .com.mx, thus why I anticipate the shift from .com.mx to .mx will happen) 2. how much companies based in mexico use the virtual world and 3. how much domainers take an interest in this extension (if domainers register more and more .mx domains, an end-user will have a hard time finding an unregistered good domain to develop, and will have no choice but to buy from domainers).

Although I am optimistic, at this stage I would advise against mass regging/buying of .mx domains as their future is still very much uncertain. Personally I'm just sticking to a few good ones until the market is more promising.

Goodluck!

I thought this might be a useful read to .com.mx/.mx domainers:

Percentage distribution of all types of .mx domains as of July 2011:

Domain Type - Percentage

. Com.mx - 68.32%

. Gob.mx - 1.22%

. Net.mx - 0.08%

. Edu.mx - 1.53%

. Org.mx - 3.28%

. Mx - 25.56%

TOTAL - 100.00%

So at the moment there are 3 times more .com.mx domains than .mx. It will be interesting to see how these percentages will vary in a year or so.

Thx Manatt for the info and it should be logical to happen as you say.

Only have bowl dot mx but there are still plenty of better names.

Def worth a shot in long term,no bulk but with few good names it will work.

Nguyen, imo in the near future you could sell those for at least high xxxx$ range (total).

All the best guys!

I dropped diy.mx due to the fact that Mexicans are interested only in spanish keywords.

.com.mx and .mx are almost worthless. Many strong keywords are dropped everyday.

Yep all renewed and actually grabbed another 50. So I have 170 all up.

Neubox are much cheaper about $22

Is the site on Neubox correct? It says "$268.90" to reg, is that Mexican currency or actually $US?

Does anyone know where's the cheapest place to reg a .mx domain these days from a reputable registrar & the price?

Dynadot charge $39.99 for .mx (a bit cheaper if you are a Bulk or Super Bulk customer), and they have promotions once in a while.

Not sure if that is the cheapest place, but I am very happy with them. Also, they offer expiring .mx names for sale.

The price at Neubox is in MXN Pesos.
The price is great but the service is not! They dont even actually have automatic registering...you have to pay and send them an email..they will register it when they get around to it. If it is still available.

Thanks, I decided to go with Dynadot as I've got a Super Bulk pricing which brings the price down to $36.75

Picked up these 2:
Drugmx
Retirementmx

I'm looking to buy two Spanish keyword .mx.
One for $100, one for $50.

If anyone has any for sale, PM me.
No garbage.

(and it's sad that I have to repeat this, but I am looking for Spanish keywords. It's a waste of time to send me English keywords)
