Hi everyone

I have a quick question about running a site on multiple domains. I'm creating a website, but am curious to know if there is a negative effect of running the same site on a mirrored domain when it comes to search engines. Basically there will be localized content on the ccTLD, but then the main gTLD will have content for many different countries, so there will be a bit of an overlap when it comes to content on the gTLD that's also on the ccTLD.

Will google/yahoo/etc notice this, and would it count as a negative mark against our rating for either domain on search engines?

Thanks,
A.

Do you use mirroring to protect your site from server crashes?
serach engine consider this technique spam, and ban for it.

If it's fresh original content then the domain that publish this content first will score better then your other domains.
Your other domains which as you say will hold the same content can receive duplicate content issues and will result in far less positive results your original domain may have which holds the original content.

Some of the pages can end up in the supplemental results.

Definitely not a good idea.
As others have said, duplicate content is not good. Exact duplicates are even worse.

Thanks for that, that's kind of what I expected the behaviour to be like.

If I kept the main content of the site totally seperate, but kept the normal static pages the same (ie About Us, Contact Form, Careers, etc etc) - do you think I'd be okay with just a few pages having duplicate content?

Cheers
A
