Multiple accounts at one registrar

Is there any registrar forbidding a customer to create multiple accounts with seperate log-in details? I have done this a few times recently as spreading your domains across numerous accounts adds some security (if you ever get an account hacked, you cannot lose all your domains) but I was wondering if this is according to the rules really?

I mainly use name.com and moniker.com for registering I should add, so in particular of these two I would like to know if it's OK to have 2 seperate accounts.

how are you going to keep track of all the accounts?

i would think its better just to have one account and have a very secure password and check on it daily. I would definitely keep any valuable names at moniker

also think about how secure the email address is which you use for the registrar accounts

Having 2 accounts is allowed and could be easily explained as 1 account for business, 1 for personal if anyone ever questioned you about it.

I have 2 at Godaddy myself -- one for my domains and one for the domains I manage for others.

ya it simply means more trouble. moreover, most of the time hacking occurs because of viruses and spyware which are present in your own computer. so in that case it does not matter how many account u have. whichever account u access will be vulnerable

I wonder if this would happen. Guess no registrar would ever close an account for the reason of having a second account, the maximum they'd do is probably asking politely to merge them?

I do agree multiple accounts can be chaotic but not if you keep track of everything well. As long as you do that I believe it can be a bit of extra safety to spread your domains a bit, if anything ever goes wrong you won't have lost all and everything. Well, it can definitely not do harm, unless a registrar would go as far as unrequestedly closing the second account or merging them without notice.

There's none barring registrars from letting users have multiple accounts. It's
only going to create more issues and less incentives.

I'm not aware of any registrar doing that except, say, if they've banned that
user from trying to signup.

Especially at Moniker or Name.com (the ones I use) it would not be any problem? No risk at all of having one of the 2 accounts closed down or so?

Probably best just to email Moniker & Name support for an official answer IMO.
