Moving directory DB problem

Hi, I am in the process of moving an esyndicate directory
from one host to another.

I have copied the DB and all the files.
I have uploaded all the files at the new host.
But the DB won't Import - keeps giving me an error.

I do have a support ticket in but it is taking too long.
Anyone had success doing this and any tips for me?

Do I need to run the installer again? Will this help the DB?

Thanks for any help you can give :)

I don't have experience with esydndicate - does it have it's own import/export feature in the script?

If both hosts have cpanel/whm, try using the account backup/restore to move it.

As a last resort, if your host has phpmysql, then you might need to do a complete sql dump.

It was at 1and1 [yes I know] :red:
there was an export feature there so I saved the DB to my desktop, and
they said in the instructions to just edit the config.php.inc file after uploading to the new host
to include the new db name/pass etc - which I did, and apparently all I had to do at hostgator,
which has the PHPMYADMIN feature and an IMPORT function, was import it.

But the site is blank, no errors noted, no DB functions listed - nada!

it's already out of, and closed at 1and1

Did the database import into the new hosting?
Check to make sure all was done right.
If all is correct,,,
You can try re-uploading the directory files and folders.

Lastly, if there is an install file, load it up and run it on your browser.

I don't have the install file as the directory is over a year old.

But it didn't import to the new host. This is where I'm getting the error.

Says something about username does not have permission on localhost blah blah
[I'm at work ATM and I can't access that part from here to get the exact message... :( ]
Normally I would just do a new DB and it would work - but I don't want to lose anything
if I can help it.

at 1and1 I don't think they called it "localhost" so I figured that might be the problem
so changed the config.php.inc then the permissions, but still didn't help.

If the database did not import over to new host, then you must input the database in.
Without me actually looking at your phpadmin, and files, I don't know where the problem is.
Localhost is used by just about every host company there is.

Better try some test first. You can load some new data first and see how it goes until you succeed, then uploading your database will be easy..
