.tv Movement toward Internet TV

Not sure whether anyone has ever heard of this but the technology exists to have a TIVO like box that downloads content from the Internet so you can watch it on your television at home. You watch it when you want.

At least, that is my understanding of the technology from a source that works within this company:

If so, then we will see a convergence of television and the Internet sooner than it would happen if the Internet's bandwidth limitation were solved.

No matter how many channels are available on TV, 9 times out of 10, there's still nothing "good" on. Why is that? Perhaps it is because the programs are not about topics of individual interest and they are not shown at convenient times when viewers want to watch them.
