Okay... I have Extreme Tracking (web based), Webalizer, and AW Stats...

What do you think is most accurate from your experience... because I am getting a whole bunch of different numbers for Feb. 2nd's visit stats..

It says:

- 327 visits using Extremel Tracking
- 405 visits using Webalizer
- 527 visits using AW Stats

Which do you think is most accurate?

There all probably correct, they just track them in differant ways.
Are comparing uniques, or just hits?

I agree with him, over the long run, awstats seems to stay the most acurate.

I use CNStats. http://www.cnstats.com/

The system is easy to install and to set; it allows counting all the visitors of your web-site - both humans and robots.

CNStats suits to upcoming projects perfectly and allows you to control visitor's actions on-line.

CNStats key features:

* Tracking on-line visitors "Currently On-line" report;
* Geographic reports built on GeoIP database, unique world map;
* Multi-level filters, data queries of any type;
* Combined reports via e-mail;
* Easy and quick installation and setting provided by the built-in installer;
* Optimized code for efficiency increase;
* Unique interface - functional, intuitively intelligible, multi-language and fast.

I think I am going to try them, this looks promising.
I hope its as good as it sounds though ;)

Can anybody provide any evidence that one stat tracker is more accurate than another?

My stat program of choice is also AWStats - Simple interface and over time the most consistent results.

Awstats will be the most reliable as it is located on the server in which you are hosting your site, using a 3rd party monitor like extreme can never be as accurate as it is located on a 3rd party server and does not reside on the server where the requests are being made for your website and will not catch 100% of the results.

I use Cnstats and I like it very much.(Not the 'like' , its because no Stats program has taken me over completely.)

For me, I think Awstats is awsome. Its so much cleaner than the other ones. Im not too sure about Cnstats as I hav never used them before. Maybe I should give them a go.

Naw, don't. I did, and no thank you, I'll stick with awstats, much more simple, cleaner, and way more accurate.

I kind of like webalizer, awstats always says I get more hits then awstats I think webalizer is more accurate I used several like bravenet stats exreme and more and I have found webalizer is more accurate because awstats seems to just track ips and my ip changes alot so it is less accurate I wish aws was right sometime lol because it says more but webalizer says about right I think and they are both on the server.

Awstats is very good, but I also use statcounter.com. Its free, very detailed and quite accurate. The free version only remebers the detailed stats on your last 100 uniques, but it stores all your general pageloads and uniques for any number of items. Worth a trial.
