Morgan Stanley Domestic Holdings LLC filed a UDRP against the domain Etradia.com, arguing that it’s confusingly similar to its well-known ETRADE trademark, replacing the “e” with “ia” and omitting the asterisk, which failed to distinguish it sufficiently from the original mark. The sole panelist found that Complainant held clear rights to the ETRADE mark, registered since 1996, and that the Respondent’s use of the domain to compete with the Complainant’s financial services confirmed its bad faith intentions.

It is beyond the scope of the Policy to determine issues of trademark validity, cancellation or infringement, which are appropriately addressed in court proceedings.

Morgan Stanley successfully won the UDRP case against Etradia.com, securing the rights to the domain. This decision highlights the importance of protecting intellectual property and brand names online. The ruling sets a significant precedent for companies looking to protect their trademarks and domains from potential cybersquatting.
Morgan Stanley's action to deprive a South African entrepreneur of his valuable domain name is an example of trademark bullying and UDRP abuse. There are 213 domain names ending tradia and the panelist should have dismissed the complaint as being outside the scope of the UDRP policy.

It is quite similar, and being in the finance sector puts it at risk imo

How many had an e in the front. And the respondent could have made his case if he felt he had one but "failed to submit a response"

What relevance does the amount of domains registered ending in "tradia" have? To me that's a relatively arbitrary number, similar to a domains asking price, because like asking prices, there are no restrictions to registering domains. Additionally, E-Trade would have a much harder time arguing against Tradia vs Etradia...

Wouldn't the amount of live trademarks or OpenCorproate.com business registrations ending in Tradia be more relevant?

I can see how Etradia is much more confusingly similar to ETrade than Tradia. Especially when you take a look at the last archive.org entry::
