In my opinion, mobile internet will surge and dominate for a while, but not forever. It's just a trend and it will not replace pc's. Mobile internet is not the same experience as being on a real pc. Things are also limited with mobile phones. People work on Pc's and not on mobile phones. The majority of people who are using mobile internet on a daily basis are majorly just playing around and not doing anything important. This is just my opinion.

No doubt in my mind that the internet will primarily be mobile, perhaps even sooner than five years.

In fact, I would not be all that surprised if this happened within TWO years.

As soon as I return to the states, I will be buying an internet-enabled mobile phone, and I won't look back.

I'm no spring chicken either; in adopting technology, I may be a bit slower than my son and granddaughter's generation (I just learned how to text about three weeks ago, self taught because my husband was stuck in three airports due to bad weather, and I had to keep him updated on weather changes), but I refuse to be left behind.

I believe others in my age group will also come on board because they'll have little choice.

Deep report... The trend toward mobile internet is crystal clear. Yes, it is about the entire internet, but the .mobi extension may play a very important role here. Looking at the report and also looking at the lists of great one-word .mobi domains dropped on a daily basis, I conclude that many domain owners are out of touch with the near future.

I doubt if .mobi will play much of a role.

Too bad that .tel, a more intuitive term, doesn't have the infrastructure of .mobi.

It could be that the internet phone will bypass TLDs altogether, what with apps.

The future of apps is in question at the moment for the following reasons;

Each mobile phone has their own different apps, no symetry

If there is a newer version of the app this needs to be upgraded every time

With a mobile website you just have a one stop shop server side. No need to upgrade app or get different apps for different phones
