I'm thinking of selling my moped domains which I've owned since 2001, I could really use the money in the real world. Mopeds.com is a published site which makes a small living, Moped.com points to mopeds.com. Any ideas on current value would be welcomed, also should I try and market them together or separately?

This is my first appraisal so go easy on me. The domain name is nice, short and memorable. There are 6,960,000 results on google for "moped". I would say it is within the high $x,xxx range. :)

I paid alot more than that for them, but they don't owe me anything.

I guess the current value should be around $1500+ and secondly I would say that your idea to market them separately is good just go ahead..

Excellent names, Although the Moped is not near as popular as the modern day scooter, Everything always comes back in style and ect,Bell bottom jeans have, So will Mopeds-lol, I see you have both names developed, That is awesome! Mopeds carries a wordtracker score of "1881" and Moped is "1712" , I would consider redirecting "Moped" to "Mopeds" and get all your traffic at one site.

$4,500 to $5,000 for each name = end user $7,000 = Names Only

Both have the same value imo, Moped is very attractive to an end user has developed thier own scooter- moped

Maybe I'm being optimistic, but I'd guess you could easily fetch six-figures for the pair if the domains were shopped around to end users. This is real premium quality here.

The terms look to be trending down a bit. But put in the hands of the right end user (Honda, Suzuki, Yamaha, Vespa) they could fetch very high to low $###,### IMO. I could see one of the big boy's buying just as a defensive move.

A savvy domainer could also do well with these. Moped/Scooter sales over the net, lists of rental places etc.

I'd really have to get low $xxx, xxx to make it worth my while as they do earn a reasonable income, also around Katrina when gas prices took off my type in traffic trippled overnite, so if oil keeps rising so should the value of these names. Problem is I need to buy a house, and these names would set me up if I could get a god price.

Considering the revenue you speak of with these two names, A low xxx,xxx sale is very attainable.

Moped.com OVT with extension = 170

Moped.com OVT with extension = 80

At the end of the day many people don't know the difference between a moped and a scooter, it can also vary by country.

I can't imagine why you would'nt get at least low xxx,xxx for these especially if you can get the manufacturers interested.

Motorcycles.com is owned by Honda, I would approach the bigger dealers if I were you and try and get them to bid for it (hmmm, deja vu)

I'm sure there would be loads of interest by PPC parkers too but "most" of them only buy based on a multiple of the revenue it makes !

Good luck with them :bingo:

These are serious stuff, mid $xx,xxx+ ...

I agree, I think these together could go for low/mid xxx.xxx .

In Norway we usualy just say "moped" but occasionaly we also say scooters, as they are kinda different, however, it could be used for both things!. Get to the end-users.

Really good domains!

Good luck bud,
Andree

I guess you want some cash now, but this is one of those names where I think it's in its infancy. With gas prices, cost of vehicles, and pollution concerns, I think the next half-decade will see a real increase in smaller, cheaper, less-polluting forms of transport like this.

Although it's a well-known word and item, you don't see them everywhere yet. I can't remember the last time I saw one (I'm in Canada). And the term doesn't get a lot of searches compared to other wheeled vehicles.

I think with a well-developed site, with some much broader appeal and info than you have on there now, and with nifty SEO that reaches even into fuel-savings, pollution-reduction, etc., you could significantly increase the traffic here... and sit on it for a few more years.

Vehicle manufacturers are updating/re-releasing items all the time that are based on old trends and new world circumstances, and I can realistically see the moped making some kind of bigger appearance.
It's entirely an educated guess, of course, but it's not a long stretch.

Right now, undeveloped, I'd say the use/popularity/value is in the grey area for this name. It's a real item, but not in use/common everywhere.
Still, somewhat common word, known item, useable/sellable product still being manufactured: I'd say realistically, and not taking into account whatever traffic stats you have:
resellers = 15 - 25K
end users = 40 - 60K as a good minimum. If you can really, really interest an end user who manufactures/sells them, and especially if they are planning new products/larger market, then easily into the low - mid xxx,xxx range.

I think this is accurate and hope it helps you some.

I think they are worth a lot - why not ask Frank Schilling on his blog - I think he does some sort of appraisal of domain names

Thanks for comments, I am aware that they could increase in value but in terms of my life if I get a reasonable price for them now I'd be happy for maybe someone else to take them to the next level, I don't have the skills or time to go there.

Is there any TM issue with the term 'moped'?

I like these domains and agree that you should be able to get high $xx,xxx to low xxx,xxx for just one and a pretty good low to mid $XXX,XXX for the package.I think offering it as a package adds value to both. :)

I would'nt think so, it's really generic - There is a TM on the term "Moped" but it is for > Electronic testing equipment that uses optical sensors to test properties of liquid substances.

So as long as you don't use it for that it would be fine.

Nice names :bingo:
