Moniker or Enom?

my domain portfolio gets huger and I need to group them at one registrar. I analyzed many registrars and just can't choose between Moniker and Enom. All of them have pros and cons.

Enom:
- I like their CP
- Customer service is decent
- Renewal prices are higher than at Moniker

Moniker
- allows domain tasting
- registration price is lower
- decent CP, but not the best, anyway could live with that
- customer support did not respond in a timely manner twice

What are your prefered registrars and why? Where do you have your names?

- Alex

Moniker is better than Sedo, better security for your names. They also offer a special discount pricing deal for namepros members. Send an email to DonLyons(at)Moniker.com to get that deal if you haven't already got it

both are good.
Moniker is safer for domains (high security measures).
The serious drawback for Moniker is their control panel as you also say.
Moniker's transfering system is a pain to use.
customer service has deteriorated at both registrars.

It's a tough choice, as IMO they are the 2 best registrars out there.
If I was starting out in the business today, I'd go with Moniker.
If you have enough domains, divide between the 2 (never keep all your eggs in 1 basket).

Do they accept Paypal, which is what most users prefer ?
Enom:
- I like their CP
- Customer service is decent
- Renewal prices are higher than at Moniker

I'd say Moniker for the prices. :]

I saw many people complain Moniker's support has degenerated for a while after the ownership transfer hope they don't frustrate me too much. I transfered almost all domains that I wish to keep to them already.

From my experience people like enom because they are resellers.

Owners of large portfolios and DomainCapital use Moniker. It's definitely for the big boys.

I prefer Wild West, a godaddy reseller. With the commission the reg fees are low, the user interface IS THE BEST BY FAR and customer service is there 24 hours a day.

ALWAYS call, their email service gives wrong answers on a regular basis.

If you want to have people get domains under your account, you need to be an enom or godaddy reseller which would be wild west.

Personally, and apparently this is just me, Moniker does not impress me. Too quirky.

I use Moniker. Cheap prices and tasting. Their CS does sort of suck, but I've rarely ever had to use them.

If you have a large portfolio of names, I think eNom CP is cleaner and easier to work with than Moniker's. I get the same prices at both.

I too have a large portfolio of domain names spread across 4 registrars.

So I thought about consolidating them into one registrar, but after seeing RegisterFly and other fiasco (granted, these were resellers), I plan to maintain my current split among different registrars (other than transferring out of 1and1 because their CP absolutely sucks!) but create a simple Access database to track inventory and stats from domain parking companies.

Good luck!

for me, neither.

enom gave me a blank order reference for a $500 order. I'll never buy anything from them again. (though their support was good)

moniker have not yet replied to a support email I sent them 4 days ago.
I'll never buy anything from them again.

Heres a free idea if anyone wants to undertake the project (I'd like at least a free copy for the idea once its finished). Someone should make a Domain Name Consolidation program. Essentially you would enter all of your registrar logins/passwords into the program and it would allow you to manage all of your domains from within the program. Thus eliminating the need to login to several different registrar accounts to do maintenance. I don't know if this would be possible, but i imagine the program could run the websites in a background process and pull all of the appropriate data, etc... I'm not a programmer, so I don't know :)

But I'm sure many domainers would be willing to pay good money for something like this.

The problem is the level of trust required. Imagine doing that, only to find that a couple of months later, once enough logins have been entered, ALL your domains get pushed to another account.
