Is everyone having problems renewing and registering at Moniker? It's been hours and I still cannot renew my domains.

I sent a support ticket but it may take a while to get a solution...

Now I cannot even login...

I finally got a reply that they are aware and trying to solve this.

So today finally they sent me another nonsense email saying I should empty the shopping cart and try again, missing the point that the shopping cart empties itself when you try to pay.

If you put something in the cart and you try to pay via Paypal, all goes well at Paypal, and you click there to confirm payment, and then you get returned to Moniker and get this message:

Duplicate Checkout Error

*Duplicate Checkout Request Detected. Please see status center for your order *

The order does not appear in the status center page. And the shopping cart is now empty.

Seems Moniker can't or won't fix this and are just playing for time.

I am actually trying to renew a domain that I bought at auction and developed. If Moniker make it impossible to renew my domain, what compensation should I expect from them for the lost domain?

Why don't you transfer away then?

Why don't you transfer away then?
Because the name had expired - I think Moniker used to let you transfer after expiry but they won't when I tried this year.

After a string of nonsense emails from Moniker telling me to empty the already empty cart, close and re-open browser, update Java , buy $50.00 at least of credit, and so on - all blaming me and pretending Moniker does not have a problem - I found that credit card payment worked. In case you are wondering, Paypal is working fine for me on other sites, just not Moniker.

So maybe Moniker is another scary company that Paypal have banned, or maybe Moniker just screwed up their own site and can't even see that they've done it, let alone fix it. Or they can't afford to fix it.

Won't be keeping any names there, I'd advise everyone else to leave too.

Moved all my transferable names out. Their escrow is also a joke. have a running saga with them. Gone completely downhill since Monte sold the company.

It's been sold twice since Monte left. I think he would be shuddering at all these antics.

I was having the same problem. Tried for about half an hour and then decided to change web browsers to see if it would help. It did!
I don't know if it was just coincidental but in firefox I couldn't get it to work. Switched over to chrome and I had no problem.

As I hear Monte was a one-man band, he really cared and stood up for his co and dealt w/domainers directly on forums sometimes, it looks like he left just as I was beginning to use Moniker so I never enjoyed him being at the helm

I must say that John and Marti from Moniker (now part of Keydrive Systems, SnapNames is too) go on forums often assisting customers w/problems, since I still have names w/them I can appreciate their coming forward and trying to help

Class Action Lawsuit Against Moniker.com

Hi,

Moniker changed everyones password and is now charging them to recover it.

My lawyer is in the process of investigating for a class action lawsuit.

If you have any information regarding their recent "domain hostage" antics, please send ONLY your name and email address to vernon.noyes at gmail and my lawyer will contact you to discuss it.

Thanks,
Vernon

Hi Vernon, I have issues with Moniker
I'm sure your intentions are good but are you a lawyer?

Just wondering who would send you this sort of personal information and what YOU plan on doing with it? :-/

Not everyone, at least not me. Some time ago they asked everyone to change their password and did not mention a charge. Some people had trouble carrying out the password change, but none of them mentioned a charge.

I was able to change my password easily, no charge at all.

No, I am not a lawyer. I ONLY have my lawyer looking into it.

If you chose to send ANY information, ALL I want is your name and email address so that my lawyer can contact you for the details of your particular case.

He's ONLY looking into moniker's practice of changing peoples passwords, then charging them to recover it. However, if there is other fraud involved, and people will come forward, he will certainly consider each case.

Is there any more to the story, something you're leaving out? I figure if this was widespread, I would be able to find something about it somewhere, blog, forum, etc. But your post is the only mention I could find about them charging to recover a password. It just doesn't make sense for any company to do that.

How much did they charge you? Did you pay?

After reading this thread, I tried to log in, but the home page won't load. As with others, cannot renew, cannot get code to transfer, cannot do jack. Have a feeling this is going to get ugly.

Can you PM me HIS info then?

As for the passwords stuff, this was initiated some time ago by moniker
I received the email, did what I was supposed to, I don't recall any problems, and no charge.

Was there an issue with them not reaching you? Was the Email correct...
How come people are just finding out now...I thought it was a while back? :-/

Not sure whats going on with snapnames and moniker but my email messages to both domain names are being returned undelivered. And they owe me money that I have been waiting for over 2 weeks. Time to get on the phone with customer no-service i guess.

It looks like Vernon's problem might have something to do with a domain, see him posting on their Facebook page - https://www.facebook.com/MonikerSnap Said something about his domain being held hostage and him having to pay $50 to get it back.
