"Bored.com was established in 1997 and today provides more than two
million visitors a month with solutions to the age-old question of what to
do when you are bored. The site serves as a portal linking to leading sites
in music, humor, gaming, quizzes & trivia, and more.

The sales agreement includes several assets associated with continuing
the current business model. The site will remain operational under its new
owner, JW Media. Other online properties currently being developed by JW
Media include BuyShoes.com and Campout.com."

He's well respected although his feedback does not adequately show it.

that's an abosulte bargain. They're not buying just the domain but an established name and website. There's definitely room for improvement in the site... i'd like to see it get as popular as stumbleupon which i think has a similar market of 'bored' people

Bored.com's previous owner comment on Rick Schwartz Blog :

Rick,

I am the previous owner of Bored.com, who sold it for $4 million. Do you think I was wrong to sell it? I agree domain prices are header higher, but I still own $5 million+ worth of websites and domains (over 9000 of them, almost all bought in the 1990's and early 2000's), so my goal in selling was to cash out a little and have money in the bank, instead of having all my wealth be virtual.

- Eric

Response by RS:
Hi Eric, Long time no speak. Don't second guess yourself. You are never wrong when you take $4 million off the table and put it in your pocket. Congrats!!

Well done!

Congrats Eric. You did the right thing. We all want an exit and you've managed to achieve one.

This was a great example of developing out a niche of associated names. Great skill. Well done!

Now you can develop all those other names. :)
