Monetizing CustomerService.com

After attending both the Domain Roundtable in Seattle and the TRAFFIC conference in Las Vegas, I'm still confused as to how best to monetize my generic domain name, CustomerService.com.
I need your help in the following areas:
1. the best overall strategy to follow to maximize revenue from the name.
2. specific suggestions about what tactics I should take to max out revenue from the name, that is, should I...directly solicit ads from big outsourcing companies, hook up with an online advertising company that already has a lot of potential advertisers, lease out the name, lease out sub-domains, sell the name, what??????

For now, I've got it parked with DotzUp.com and am getting about 3,500 uniques per month with almost 50 percent CTR!

I appreciate any and all suggestions you can make to help. Thanks much.

The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.

With 50% click thru keep it as a parking page............

No matter what you do, with a name like you have you're going to make money.

What is your goal? Do you have a monthly income figure in mind, or are you just shopping to find the best you can do? Do you think a monthly income will ever catch up to the amount you could sell it for? Does your current parking not pay you enough?

Just changing parking could double your monthly income. With so many uniques, it would only take a day at each service to see which pays best. So for the immediate short term, while you are preparing a site to attract big boys, move it around a little and see.

It's good to have such a nice problem, isn't it?

50 Ctr

If you're getting 50% CTR you're doing great. The ads being served and your selection of key words seems to be dead on.

Really you don't want to mess up your current success.

Regarding switching parked services I would try to check who is providing the ad feed at Dotzup. Maybe another parked service would provide the same ad feed but your per click payment could be higher than Dotzup. In theory same ad service and same key words should deliver the same CTR. The layouts might change the CTR so watch for that.

Congrads on having a successful program with your domain. Don't mess with its success to much!

monetizing CustomerService.com

Dotzup is the third parking site I've been at and far and away the most lucrative of the three...at least so far.
But I think that some banner ads at a developed site might be far more remunerative. Lots of options. Thanks for your comments.

it would be nice if each parking service told how much they paid for each keyword, transparency would be quite usefull; at least easier than asking or chatting trying to find out on your own.

transparency

Yes, Commander, it would be nice to have transparency re: keywords used and how much is being paid by advertisers for each keyword and click.
Anyone know how to find these things out?

Because it is such a broad generic domain, I would switch it to Name Drive, maybe just as a tempory measure, as at Name Drive you will be able to see exactly what visitors were looking for and what part of the world they are coming from.

You can then switch back to your original parking program and use the information gained for further optimisation. You may lose some money for money for a time but it could be worth the education.

Your welcome to use my N.D. affiliate code if you want to try Or don't

If you are just going to park it while you decide what to do, you should try trafficclub <dot> com and use the skenzo feed. I think you'd make more while you wait. They will accept you in a heartbeat with that domain. Would like to hear actual payout amounts in comparison if you can.

In answer to all your comments...the first place I had it parked, SEDO, was giving me very little...only about 8 cents per click; got much more with Domain Sponsor (and their service was great); now, with DotzUp I'm getting more than 85 cents per click...but their customer service could be better.
I may try Name Drive or Traffic Club.
I also heard good things about TrafficZ and Parking Dots...anybody know anything about those 2? Thanks.

You've got the perfect opportunity to provide yourself and all of us with great data about parking payments. Since your domain gets so much type-in traffic, you could move it to a new service everyday and keep track of each service. In about 10 days you'd know the best place to park it, and we'd have a good idea of 10 provider payouts (and uniques if you recorded them). Not trying to pressure you...just seeing a good opportunity. Just seeing the difference between Sedo Dotzup should be a wake-up call.

IMO the best name to monetize is to develop into a business idea.
What I would do is get a decent support script, customize it or why not, build your own, then offer hosted support for companies.
Many companies have a website but they lack a way to track queries from customers. A contact form will only forward to an E-mail address.
You can do better than that: not only forward E-mails but also feed a database which could turn into a knowledge base or valuable customer list.
It could be used for tech support too as a ticket system.

Each company would also have a subdomain under CustomerService.com like:

registrar.CustomerService.com
hosting.CustomerService.com
MaBell.CustomerService.com
etc

which sounds professional and customer-focused, and they would have a password to access their own area and track queries from customers, set E-mail notifications, check ticket status etc.

I believe the domain is quite generic and parking is not the best option, at least not in the long term.

You could make a lot of money by selling this domain name. Have you thought about it?

I would recommend you:
a) try parking at klickerz in the short-run
b) work on a development plan
c) decide to develop or hold as investment then sell

Developing CustomerService.com

Thanks to everyone for your help and suggestions.

Please check out the site and see the new link at the top...we're offering sub-domains through a new program from CentralNIC! (your suggestion, Kate)
Along with that, we're working on a development plan to build out the site with RSS, syndicated articles, etc. and maybe get large outsourcing companies and/or other customer service companies to place ads...the possibilities are endless. CustomerService.com

FYI One of the reasons I went to Dotzup is because their landing page has full-color graphics and it looks more like a developed site than the Google/Yahoo sponsored links of other parking companies.
Any other parking companies do the same with their landing pages?
