I was reading through this article, particularly the graphic at the bottom, and was wondering if there was anyone out there starting to develop and gear their sites specifically towards mobile devices.

Some interesting points -

- Mobile search has grown 500% in the past two years
- Mobile traffic was 8 times greater in 2011 than in 2010
- In 2012, smartphone and tablets have out shipped desktop and laptops by 200,000 million
- By 2015, it is predicted desktop sales will only make up 18% of computer sales.

More and more website development companies are embracing mobile web development into their profile, beside the usual desktop website development package.

Apps development platforms that are popular now : Android and iPhone. But you might want to look into Windows platform too.

A mobile site is always worth it if your site is complex.

When using my phone I find myself clicking on 'view desktop site' more often than not, unless the site is complex and the mobile version has everything I need - Amazon do this well.

But some sites remove some core functionality from their Mobile sites, thinking they are helping mobile users, but forget that smart phones these days have 4" screens and it can be frustrating to see just 4 massive buttons for the basics and no access to what you may actually have gone there for.
