.mobi Mobile Business Cards - Xcard.mobi

Xcard.mobi

I put up this site after I went car shopping with a friend and he had many business cards all over his car and couldn't find the one that he was looking for. I thought why not have a site where businesses/people could text their card right to a customer's cell phone so they would know where to find the info when they needed it- all in one place, neat and tidy. ANyways thats my reason..

I am finally in the testing stage of my Xcard.mobi site. I am looking for feedback (good and bad). Right now I am working on how the texts are displaying on a mobile (I'm not happy yet with how it is displaying). Also looking for different phones testing it out. Your time and thoughts are greatly appreciated... And reps will be happily added :)

thanks, Gary.

I think this idea could have some legs but I'm hoping you could clarify the work flow. Is the complete card info sent to the users phone or a link to visit the site?

As far as the text display, with SMS messages there is no display controls that I am aware of so you may need to get the user to visit the site. This could be useful anyway because then as a user I could have a contact list of "cards" that could be searchable. Obviously there are other solutions to managing contacts on mobiles but this is a packaged a bit differently.

Got to put a TM in the name, if this takes off you want to protect it.

This seems to be a very good idea if you can make it work.

A car salesman lets say, could ask a customer if he wanted an ecard and ask for their cell phone number, then text him a card OR a business could have on their desk or in front of his store or even on their website the link to their card ex- goto Xcard.mobi and enter card #1 to get our business card sent to your phone. Or something like that

Thanks for the input on the TM, I will def do that.

thanks, Gary.

Also I am designing a widget that they can place on their website that says click here to get your biz card texted to you for free.

As mentioned, be sure to research (and then secure) all potential ™ issues, IMHO.
Best of Luck.

My concern as a consumer is that I probably won't want to give my cell # to the sales guy. So what I'm looking for is to be able to tell the sales guy to send his xcard to my xcard account. That way I can log into my account and see all the cards that have been sent. Then I can choose to save them or delete them. Then what becomes important is to be able to file the cards in different folders and also search. A personal comments section on each card would be nice so I could write a note about the reason I have the card in the first place. Lots of work ahead but could be very interesting.

thanks

Thanks for the feedback. I wasnt thinking of storing the cards for the consumer, although intersting idea.

For the people that don't want to give their phone number to a sales person they could have a sign/cardholder saying if you want my ebiz card then goto Xcard.mobi and enter mailbox #12 or something like that. Since they have their phone they should be able to go online to get it. I wasnt thinking about people not wanting to give their phone number out. If a salesperson said give me your ph number and I will text you my biz card, as long as I was interested, I would give it to them. I will think some more now :)

thanks, Gary.
