MobiForums.com
MobiBroadband.com
MobiMailbox.com
MobiWebHost.com
MobiVideoGames.com

Registered these a year ago, before .Mobi launched. Besides the domain extension, the thinking was that "mobi" might also become a mainstream acronym or slang for "mobile".

Well, here we are a year later... and they all expire in a few weeks. :o

I'm sure I will renew, but I want to know your thoughts on them.

Are they development worthy? Do they have significance to what's currently going on with the .mobi extension? Could "mobi" become a popular term in general? Would a mobile company buy them? Would other resellers buy them?

Please share.

I seem to recall a couple of mobi related .coms have sold recently? Whatever the
future holds for .mobi, developers will always need a .com presence. I think a couple
of those domains could be quite useful somewhere down the line.

MobiForums.com
MobiVideoGames.com

Given a few years, probably all of them.

Right now DB, mobile is a much more popular and known word. If mobi fails because of things like the iphone capable of seeing fully developed .com's etc zoom or no zoom, I think they will be worthless. Timing is everything. Mobiforums if developed today with mobi diehards (probably your only traffic)signing on and some adsense might pay off. Kinda earler to tell but my opinion is it's a gamble no matter what. Would I renew? Probably not. Unless they were developed and there was some real positive mobi news out there.

Right now imo, there isnt much of that and I dont consider recent high dollar sales of the ext positive news. I want to see a T-mobile commercial or another big companys commercial on tv or even on their .com sites promoting it. Until then, I have my doubt's on it's success. The iphone I'll admit, opened my eyes to whats really around the corner and also whats going to be unnecessary. Outside of domaining it's mobi what? Development and pr on google.com is crucial for the word mobi alone to survive at this point.

Of course, just one mans confused take on the whole deal.

I like MobiForums.com too.

Wouldn't it be benificial to register the .mobi counterpart of the above listed .com's?

Agreed. Mobiforums.com is best. mobi as a term/name is alrady poplar in europe and with .mobi as an extension it will be more popular in the future.

I agree with your thinking that 'mobi' will become the slang for mobile. I see it like 'dot com' is to internet addresses - what's your 'dot com address' etc. It is used in some countries already, and is somewhat starting here with MobiOpera, MobiCam, MobiTV to name a few. I have a few Mobi___ names myself (Mobi___.mobi), which I became intrigued by with the number of preregged Mobi___ names I noticed in the whois. And I'm talking of names applied for and given to in May, June, etc., not ones awarded on landrush day 9/26 and after. Just look up some of these type of names and see who and when they got them. So, for the couple of bucks, I'd at least renew them for a year and see what happens. But I do believe 'mobi' will be a common term refering to the mobile internet in the future. IMO. And of course, as some think that .com sites will be the 'only sites needed' for mobile internet use, you'd have that side covered too. In ref to your names, I like MobiVideoGames, and MobiForums.

I'm not a website develper guru or anything but from what i read on another site

"According to Mobile Best practices, mobile web pages can't have Scripts or frames within them. Hence, normal methods of chat can't be used. However, we will analyze the options and try to come out with a solutions to this."

mobiforums would be huge but the question is, will it be possible?

i like the videogames one, i can hear like a commercial in my head right now like "mtv" i want my mtv converted to i want my MVG mobile video games u know like that dire straits video.

MobiForums.com is the best IMO, but they are all pretty good. If Mobi catches on they will be some great names to have. If you check out Mobi in the Urban Dictionary you can see there is an entry but not much interaction (votes), and the term was submitted in July 2006... so it's early days yet before it becomes commonplace I reckon.

I like the MobiConnection. It would encompass all the other names as well as just about anything mobi. It's your mobile connection

MobiForums.com
MobiBroadband.com
MobiMailbox.com

In that order.

People (like me) will be searching the internet for information on .mobi. With all the current hype, MobiForums.com could definitely be launched immediately as a legitimate site for information, technology advances, uses, and updates.

News keep filtering out. MSN.MOBI, NBA.MOBI, and more. It may not be perfect yet, but this is taking off much quicker than anticipated.

The other two mobi.coms are practical, again, as information or affilliated sites. One can point to the others to let the user know which services are being offered and available.

As I said, I think most users will get on their computers to go to a .com or .net site to get information on what the .mobi thing is all about.

By the way, I don't know why, but I regged MobiAss.com last year. Has consistently got hits and clicks throughout last year, long before the .mobi launch. I'll be renewing for sure. I have no idea what the fascination is with that domain or why someone would type it in to begin with.

But, who am I to question the revenue it has generated.

Thanks for taking the time to leave your feedback, everyone! :tu:

It appears most of you feel they are worthy of renewing... potentially worth something.

It's not the money. I just own too many domains, and my new year's resolutions are to reduce my size... both my domains and my weight (25 pounds). :gl:

Keep mobiforums, dump the rest. Even if .mobi is forgotten, mobiforums would still have value as a catchy domain name.

Nice names! I own MobiAdvertisements.com

I think your names have great potential.

DB, I'd have to go with the majority on this one.. MobiForums.com is the best BUT I would hold onto all of them!

I also invested in a few mobi .com's myself because I see a bright future for both the extension and the word "mobi" Here are a few of my investments (all on Sedo):

MobiMP3s.com
MobiBands.com
MobiLayouts.com
MobiWallpapers.com
MobiBackgrounds.com
MobiScreensavers.com

Good luck on both. I think losing the weight will be easier than letting go of the domains. Plus, there is a greater risk you'll reg more domains than you had :hehe:
