I have a couple hundred minisites but this is the only one that's stumped me so far.
Pomodoro Sauce - Pomodoro Sauce
Only been live 4 months and more than doubles each month. August was over 3600 uniques... but it has the lowest ctr of almost all my sites and only made its reg fee for the month in adsense. I intend to update it in a couple weeks and try switch things around, if you have any suggestions on better ad placements etc., I'm all ears because I've tried about everything. One thing: I need to keep the recipe on there. Otherwise, I'm open to suggestions :)
Thanks

The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.

If you already played around with positions, ad types and colors etc then all that's left really is a different design. But even then that is not always a guarantee of success. Some niches just get low ctr's. I'd spend more time focusing on your other sites and get their traffic up as the ctr is already there.

468 banner Looks ok (Maybe could be image instead of Text ads)
160*600 Skyscraper is displaying (for me ) Fathers day Gifts IMAGE AD or Weight Loss ADS.
Therefore could explain partially Low CTR.

Have you considered testing out revenue sources other than Adsense? You could look at CJ, Google Ad Network, Azoogle etc to see if they have advertisers (they do!) that would fit well with the foodie theme of your site.

You could go a step further, if you're already approved in the eBay Partner Network, and display some targeted auctions; pasta cooking equipment, etc.

Mind you, if you're doing reg fee (say $10.00) per month in revenue and have little to no costs other than the actual domain renewal, that I suppose while $0.30 CPM is not great - it's still decent considering the amount of traffic.

You certainly could do a bit better by exploring relationships with advertisers a bit more directly (through the affiliate networks mentioned above) since you have a nicely designed niche site.

Thanks for comments so far, people;
WB, my other sites have no probs getting traffic either, but ctr is much better on most of them. Ctr so low for this site I had just hoped to optimize the income better somehow. It may be a lost cause but I'll put a little more time into it. Though even at its present earnings, it's still a profitable site to keep.

BFT, what area are you in? The skyscraper ads look good here and anywhere else people have checked for me, always brings up pasta sauce/recipe ads etc...

RTM, thanks for suggestions, I've never looked into those alternatives but maybe it's worth it. I'll study up on them this month. For my minisites, this is a real poor showing; even sites with only a few hundred uniques/month make multiples of the income that this site makes. :bah:

Thanks again
B
