As someone who deals with end users daily this statement is ridiculous -

“It’s easier to sell a $100,000 domain today than a $1,000 domain,” says John Albanese, founder of Certified Acceptance Corp., based in Bedminster, N.J., which verifies graded domains.

selling domain name business to be in. It's a licence to print money. We're talking telephone numbers here; the domain name Business.com was sold for a staggering $8 million. That makes it the most expensive domain name in the world. Previous record holders include Compaq who paid nigh on $3.3 million for the Altavista.com name.

Not the highest. This is old news.

Moniker.com announced that it had brokered the sale of Porn.com to MXN Limited for more than $9.5 million. The exact price and terms of the transaction were not disclosed but Moniker said this is the largest all-cash domain transaction in history. In total value, they said it would be the second largest domain sale overall after Sex.com (which reportedly sold for approximately $12 million in cash and stock in January 2005).

T.R.A.F.F.I.C West Live Auction , Porn.com attracted a bid close to $7 million but did not meet the owner's reserve. Moniker continued working with interested parties and finally completed a sale. Knowledgeable sources say the price paid for the domain would be approximately 5-6 times its annual earnings.

The exact price was not released (MXN had put out their own press release and said the price was over $9 million, then Moniker followed with a release pegging the minimum figure at $9.5 million).

During the auction they mentioned it generated $4000 a day but I have heard it was closer to $1600. Still nearly $600K per year.

maybe the statistics were outdated... my friend who has a registry business hosted by register.com told me he increased sales 50% the last 2 months without any marketing campaign... maybe for our country...

The top end of the domain market is very weak, and the claim that a 100k domain is easier to sell than a $1000 domain is BS. the opposite is true. The number of companies that can afford a 100k domain is very very limited, and the number of domainers in that market is substantially less than a couple of years ago.
