Here's the thought...

As MillionDollarHomePage gets filled, it becomes obvious that a single 10x10 square's chances get slimmer and slimmer.

The pitch:
Get together and buy a bigger block. Say 40x50=$2000, or 20 of us at $100 a pop. The block will link to a page automatically redirecting to one of 20 URLs picked randomly by a script every time the page loads.
The trick is to get all 20 sites related to one niche. Say - domains. Make a 40x50 eye-catching button with "DOMAIN NAMES" on it.

The math:
5% chance of getting a click on 40x50 block is much greater than a chance for a 10x10 square to be noticed.

The rules:
You can sell or rent your share under one condition - the final URL must relate to the niche (Domains) and it must be approved by the whole group.
You can have X shares. In this case you will have X URLs or X times for the same URL.

Good idea, yet hard to manage and keep rules adhered to. Just also wanted to mention that the traffic to that site will die down VERY quickly. Although the site will remain up for 5 years, the traffic may only last another few weeks. Its not the greatest investment. This would have been better to do the first few days MDHP existed.

I think the life and hype of the site will be far longer than you imagine.

Even after he's sold all the space there will be television programs, newspaper journalists, radio DJ's and plenty of others who will want to interview the guy.

Think about it, he'll be a self made millionaire. In an inconceivably short space of time too. Everyone will want to have a piece of him. He'll be presented before an audience that have not been exposed to the ins and outs of the internet. They'll be internet noobs. Complete virgins.

Some may decide to 'check out that internet thingy' because some guy with a simple idea made a ton of money.

This guy will get more offline exposure than any of us can dream of ever getting from the online population.

Putting an add on milliondollarhomepage requires creativity. Some smaller adds are a lot more interesting than the larger ones. A button that says domain names sounds boring to me.

Hello, I will be interested in paying $100 for a share in this idea.

I think the ad should be like a "?" however not filling the complete height/width of the block. A transparent background so it seems like all the squares around it are not taken thus making it stand out as it hasnt a load of icons crowding it in.

Ill show you an example if needed, I think this idea would REALLY stand out.

I also don't like the fact it has to be just your "niche".
