Hey all figured with the recent .io 6 figure sale and the nice .xyz sale by a follow NP member. We should open a showcase and discussion thread here.

Metaverse is a fast growing keyword, term and niche! Let's share and discuss our name and news.

I've only got One to start with but its a GOOD one my favorite ending keyword on most names.

MetaverseHub.com

Welcome! :)

The list of goods and services are mainly from academic/scientific area, probably that's why they are going in that direction: NEWS: Meta (previously known as Facebook) are suing Bantshireโ€™s Mathematical Engineering Teaching Academy (META) for $1million for breaching their trademark.
TM's from 2015 they own, have nothing to do with the metaverse from 2021.
For anyone wondering, that's a joke Twitter account.

I can't sit here arguing this all day, but the long and short of it is if someone has a TM registered and they used it in commerce they have protection. That protection can be quite far reaching.

If you bought a company called meta and you registered a trademark legitimately for it in 2015 and they had used the name for years, do you think a defence against you trying to protect your mark of "But you only announced Meta on the 28th of Oct 2021" is going to cut the mustard? Sadly not.

Every piece of a trademark is examined, the sentences (the description of goods and services) aren't in there for a laugh and anyone else has the right to oppose a mark or have parts of it revoked for non use if that's the case. But this....

Class 42 - computer networking services, namely, creating on-line virtual communities for registered users to organize groups and events, participate in discussions, and engage individually and in groups in scientific, social, business and community networking; computer services, namely, hosting electronic facilities for others for organizing and conducting meetings, events and interactive discussions via communication networks

...is very much to do with his metaverse concept and he's probably met the bar for protection with the services that meta.org provided long before now.

Again I'm not trying to scare anyone or say no one can use meta/metaverse or that your names are worthless or anything, it's just a discussion and I'm not a lawyer.

It is unlikely that this company will resell it. Most likely they will try to use it. So at least I won't be upset about the flip. For some names, I asked for a million, for example, store.ai metaverse.property . But here I don't have the nerve to demand so much. In addition, my beloved cat died, and I became indifferent to money. Nothing will revive my cat.

METAVERSE.AI is such a powerful name! You should definitely demand more.

And I think you should consider getting professional support about the cat thing.

It is, but that's the direction they will go, even if it's a parody right now.

No, they can't. It's not that simple.

Please stop spreading fear.
And stop tyrannising sh*tty companies and people.

Metaverse is much more than: meetings, events and interactive discussions. He could defend social networking named 'META' but there are other tens of companies with TM's rights for META in gaming, machine learning and tens of other industries. There are tens of live discussions on twitter, linkedin and others about 'meta', including lot's of lawyers and I could not find even one that was arguing that facebook could trademark 'meta' in metaverse.

Well, a 2015 TM is pretty recent compared to the other meta companies who have been in the digital space for a while now.

Yeah, it's not really much to do with metaverse or what the scope of metaverse concept is tbh, more that they have a TM for meta that will protect them in relation to their reg'd goods and services and anyone in the future trying to start a company using the name.

Stay away from 3 word domains. They generally don't sell, especially at those lengths. Regging 3 word domains is a common beginner mistake. You should do some research about domaining before wasting more of your money. Just trying to help...

FB rebranding as Meta is only going to discourage smart businesses from using Meta. In the future it will be the equivalent to branding with Facebook + Keyword dot com.

I'm inclined to agree with this. Which is why Metaverse domains suddenly went up in value.
