I was wrong that they were calling it meta, but that's not what you were protesting about. I will take it on the chin in good humour that my prediction was incorrect.

Now we can understand why some of the 'Meta' sales happened (behind the scenes knowledge).

Honestly i don't know if this is good or bad for 'meta' domains moving forward as anything registered from now onwards will be done with Facebooks new brand in mind and they could claim bad faith/cybersquatting, something they can't claim with all domains registered/transferred before this announcement.

But i do wish i bought MetaCoins dot com now though when i had chance, whether they would have transferred it or not i don't know, but I'm kicking myself for not trying.

You mean new businesses? Because, I don't see old meta businesses changing their names simply because Facebook decided to go with meta.

Even new business names will be hard to contest trademark-wise for something as generic as meta. That's why TM applications always advise that you should go with unique names.

Metaverse Names Looking Fantastic

This is definitely the boost that Metaverse + Keyword names needed because sales have been looking sparse. I know it's early, but still... I hope I'm wrong and dozens of 5 figure Metaverse + Keyword domains. But Blockchain for example is long too and even with the amount of hype it's had, there were only 9 blockchain + Keyword domains that broke into the 5 figure range, out of 500 sales. History has spoken my friend... If Metaverse + Keyword domains are different that would be a rare thing. The only exception that I can think of is Real Estate and Online. If Metaverse is that successful then I will happily stand corrected, as I have Metaverse domains as well...
