Ok so I just got back from a pretty good weekend with my kids. We went to Vegas for a mini family trip. We live in LA, California and went to Las Vegas, NV. And we used a online site for travel which is called www.Megabus.com. One can buy tickets as low as $1. For round trip one could pay anywhere between $3($1 one way with .50 cent service fee. $1.50 one way.) upwards to like $80. But for my family we spent $80(for all 4) RT. And my daughter went RT from LA to San Fransico for 2 for around $55(together). You can only buy the tickets online.
The buses are tour buses with plenty of leg room. Much, much better than using Greyhound. Cleaner, more professional and cheaper. They service only certain parts of the US atm. And many locations throughout the UK. You cant book any trips at a counter, only online. They take major Credit Cards, MC/Visa and American Express. Including Paypal and bank/atm cards with the MC/Visa logos. You can only book a trip anywhere from same day to 45 days in advance.
It may be limiting to some. But it is great for the price and the ride. The bus I was on to Vegas had 3 families of 4 - 5 in the family and like 3 couples who were in the late 50's and early 60's. And a few single people. There were about 50 people to Vegas. But like 18 people on the way back. There were no pick up points along the way to Vegas like Greyhound. On the way back to LA it took us about 4 hrs and 15 minutes. Technically a little under 5 hours counting the 30 minute dinner stop in Barstow.
This would be great for those who are coming from Northern California to the Domainfest in Hollywood at the end of January 2008. Or the TRAFFIC west meeting in Las Vegas or the Domain RoundTable in San Fransico.
So for those who are interested its www.megabus.com.
