I hear she may likely get up to 15 months in prison at a low-security camp type place.

Right, but she was found guilty of lying, not insider trading.

Isnt that more then just a lying?

Yes, it is more than just lying, but all of those charges come from Martha's reaction to an investigation on insider trading.

How this ever proceeded on to trial is beyond me, to be honest ... her attorney(s) could (and should) have worked out a sweet little settlement a looong time ago had she just come clean and admitted her "bad judgement".
She'll lose (in the short-term) countless millions in her company's stock value and serve approx. 6 - 9 months in prison, country club style.
Two, three years from now, no one will remember or care ... and she'll still be beyond rich ...
B-)

24 months! but with a cohort of high profile lawyers seeking publicity for the case, it will be reduce to 1000 hours community service.!hehe

Well her total worth went down from $400 Billion to only $333 Billion when she was found guilty...

billion? Can you post a link where it says "333 billion"? I'd like to see a reporter screw up like that. That's way more than Bill Gates' worth?

That was my mistake, I meant million but typed billion... but still...

The jury's guilty verdict deprived Stewart both of her credibility and approximately $85 million. According to Forbes.com, when Stewart awoke Friday morning, she was worth about $420 million. When she went to sleep Friday night -- assuming she could sleep -- the 23 percent plunge in shares of her company reduced her net worth to around $335 million.

She lost more in one day than many ever make in several lifetimes. And even now can still buy every American a... what, burger? with change to spare.

The biggest issue here would be how a forme Merril stockbroker could fumble like that.. for a few measely bucks (relative to the immeasurable goodwill she lost; and she of all people whose fortune and celebrity is directly pinned on being miss goody two shoes... and that's something no amount of money can recoup). Greed, as they say, is a terrible thing to be complacent on. Funny thing is that the ImClone drug was approved.
