I was wondering if anyone thought this maybe a good idea to help get extra website traffic or could it possibly build alot of traffic over time.

1) Have your developed website or blog (Eg: Fashion Blog)

2) If any of your friends are into Fashion ask them if they would like an email account using your blogs url. (Some friends may use it if its a cool website or blog name) Eg: [email protected]

Do you think this will help cos I'm always one of them people, if I see a domain hosted email account I always like to take a look at the site.

What do you think? This just popped into my head.

I used to build niche social networks, and free mail was one of the first features I'd roll out on each. Always caused (brief) spikes in signups when the e-mails started getting used.

So to get people to sign up to this free service would you just have to be a hosting company because I run a gamers blog and wanted to gain more traffic by giving email accounts to other gamers with like 250MB space and I was going to start this service off with just with my friends cos they would talk to other nerds. Does this sound like a idea? Would a website like mine make sense to have this kinda service?

Any site with a cool-sounding name that is easy to remember could do it. You don't need to be a hosting company -- if you have cPanel or Plesk as part of your hosting it's easy to set up web mail, e-mail forwarders etc.

Ya I see your point fm.

Also with the whole cpanel thing I was looking at maybe seeing if there was a way to place a small text ad under the email signature of all account (HELP?). Maybe something close to the hotmail ads so when they email someone and a little ad at the bottom with my website(s). Also with using this email service would you allow the users to access their emails through mail chimp and outlook or should I find a mailing system for them to view there email account?

You should have to need using social networking sites and make big group there and post to all your massages.

Definitely right. It will be your site's partner in driving traffic to your site.

Sounds like a good and creative idea, I sometimes check out a URL after seeing it in an email address too. There are some cons to this though. You say you'd give these to you're friends, what happens if you sell the site or give up on it? Those emails will be lost, and you'll have some upset friends. Also what's in it for them? I'd assume that most people are happy with the email address they have. And finally, seeing John@exampledomain implies that John works for exampledomain, so their could be credibility issues for your site.

That being said, it could bring in some extra traffic. You could use Gmail which is a free service, and you can set it up with your own domain. Users would then go to the Gmail website, and log in as name@yourdomain
