okay, i've been reading around a litlle bit and see alot of people think the smaller niche sites are the way to go and i agree. the field that i am in is marijuana. the market is there and it is a very large one. there is a whole sub-culture out there that use and grow marijuana everyday. this market is pretty well saturated, we have overgrow, cannabis culture, cannabisworld taking up the lions share of registrants. those are the larget ones, overgrow is pushing 100,000 registered members and charging $500 a month for adds and they have alot of them. other than these, there are hundreds of other smaller sites with 1000+ registered members. these sites advertise, but i don't think that there is alot of money in it.
it's pretty hard to compete with guys that are already established and getting tons of hits and advertising dollars every day, so i figure that i have to create a new market.
my niche market is going to be product information. these large sites aren't in this for marijuana reform, helping people, or saving the ozone layer, they are in it for the $$$$$$$$$$$. they will sell advertising to anyone who has the cash to put up for it, no questions asked. well it's time someone started asking. what is this product? how is it used? does it work for its intended purpose? and most importantly, is it worth the buck? i'm going to answer all these questions for them in a magazine style website. don't have a name yet, but i'm working on it.
basically, before people jump into these purchases, large or small, they will be able to come to my site, look up the specific product, read an article and rating about the product written by myself including, photos, highlights, installation info, the whole works and then decide whether or not the product is worth spending the $ on. my ultimate goal is going to be to have every internet using mj grower on the web, checking out products that i have reviewed before they buy. my reports will be accurate and honest. integrity and credibility will be my brother and sister. people will know, that if i say it's a buy, then it's a buy and vice versa.
here is the clincher, i will only sell advertising to companies whos products i have deemed suitable in $, usability, and cutomer service at a rating of 70%+. i'm looking for the best products for the best prices. period!
