'Pro' hurts the name a little............

The term 'pro' when used in conjunction with a domain name has taken on a negative connotation due to the failure of the once promising TLD of the same name. However, I could see some limited potential for development. This will be key to value.

Reg fee to low $xx undeveloped. IMO.

Best of luck with the domain and have a great weekend!

Of course there is no point to say my opinion in a topic that it's by default a place for others to post theirs but quoting your reply i wanted to say that :

I'm a fan of PRO for a long time
I agree that .pro TLD had not the proper business plan and made wrong estimations that placed their registry to this position
However i don't believe that when people see the pro suffix the first thing they remember is this TLD

For example i would think the PRO suffix much better than a NET or COM suffix even if these two are much more powerful TLDs
Imagine the name as : ManilaNET.com or ManilaCOM.com

Of course they don't! MicroGuy has an axe to grind against .pro, it's a testament to his dedication to the extension's downfall, that he even manages to have a dig in .com appraisals now.

There are 1.62m Google indexed pages that end "Pro.com", I doubt the .pro extension crossed anybody's mind or lips when they got developed. People develop pro.com domains because they think the suffix Pro adds credibility and brandability, and they are right.

There are 15,000 reference to Pro in the US trademark database, according to Microguy they are all planning to cancel those marks since finding out about .pro. They don't want to be a laughing stock, you see!:)

You should consider the .pro extension if you value this branding method because it allows you to chop 3 letters off the domain, short domains and one word domain are invariably more valuable domains for businesses.

Value wise, maybe low $XXX, would be a nice name for an online professional services firm in Manila, recruitment would be ideal.

I support PRO generally as an acronym for domains from late 1995 and i can say that it's my favorite. Hold 3 TM based on this.

The deal that .pro registry made from the start and the strict rules for professionals was a big mistake. The word was awesome and they could achieve much better registration rates

In any case thanks both of you for your posts

These are some other GEO PRO names that i released and i will post them in separate appraisal and "for sale" topic :
CasablancaPRO.com (Casablanca - Morocco)
DelhiPRO.com (Delhi - India)
JakartaPRO.com (Jakarta - capital and largest city of Indonesia)
MilanoPRO.com (Milano [Milan in English-Milano in Italian] is the second largest city of Italy)
MonterreyPRO.com (Monterrey - Mexiko)
NapoliPRO.com (Napoli [Naples in English - Napoli in Italian] Italy)
SantiagoPRO.com (Santiago - is the capital and largest city of Chile)
LagosPRO.com (Lagos - economic and financial capital of Nigeria)

I completely agree, Pro is a great domain word but RegistryPro have blown it so far for .pro with high reg fees and restrictions.

by the way do you suggest only these two/or others as best registrars for the TLD ?

Well it's funny you should ask, I'm developing a .pro portal call Total.pro and I did a survey on .pro registrars today. You can find it at Total.pro/registrars.php, OVH.co.uk was the best value, it's a French hosting company.

I feel uniquely qualified, if not somewhat compelled to address your request.

First, Microguy, you read like a public service ad advocating the importance of pursuing a full life, rich in diversity. Though we've so very much enjoyed your views on .Pro, surely you deserve more. So may I be the first to wish you good fortune as you pursue a more appropriate calling...

I spent some two months in the Philippines, most of it in Manila. I had to be dragged back to the States by my then-wife, and all but lost my job and head. The country and its people are lovely. Manila is hot in many ways. And, yes, I own both in .Pro.

I own numerous city.pro and citypro.com domains. That said, I must state, with much reluctance, that neither form tends to represent a great investment. There are exceptions, of course. But they are few and far between. As to city.pro domains, my reservation goes to the issue of nexus. At the very least, there are several other tlds that fit better. Even so, if we see an increase in the development of websites likes "oahu.pro", I would expect like domains to rise in value. Ironically, its hard to find another word extension that fits better with .com, than pro. This is where Andrew's stats speak the loudest. If only, however, we weren't still discussing a geo-domain...

All told, I would appraise at low to mid xxx. Good luck!
