Couple of minutes ago I’ve received a mail from Register.com

“Dear Valued Customer,

Username: XXXXXX

To change or re-enter your password, please copy and paste the below url into the Address or Location field of your browser. The Web page displayed will allow you to change and confirm your new Account Manager password

LINK “

Problem is that I didn’t contact Register.com to change my password.

What do you think about it? Is somebody trying to log-in to my account?
Or Register.com just informing me that I could change my password? :)

Thanks,

Sounds like phishing - be very careful!

Type register.com into your browser URL field, log into your account, and see if there are any messages about changing your password.

Hi thanks, for reply!

I'm in, and there is no any messages

Few other ideas:
- Maybe someone has clicked on the "Lost Password?" link and typed you username/email and you got this message
- Sometimes domain registrars force users to change their passwords and send the messages like yours

Check the link inside the message, it is from register.com? As randomo said, there is a risk of phishing.

Anyway, if you have taken no actions, I'd suggest some suspicious activity around your account, so keep your eyes opened!

Change your passwords regullary and use strong passwords with letters, numbers and special symbols. You may use "SoftFuse Password Generator Free" for generating such passwords. It's free and generates pretty strong passwords.

Well first of mailing with someones email aint difficult. I mean you can mail someone with an emailadress from The White House :S

But what is the domain from the link they give you?
That's the only thing you can't possibly hack.

Thanks for advices guys.

Well, that mail is exactly the same that I've got sometime ago form Register.com when I forgot my password. From [email protected], in the link is also Register.com

Looks like it's a real e-mail from Register. Looks like someone clicked at “Forgot password” link, typing my username.

I replied to that mail, we'll see what will be next.
