This will be a most interesting auction as not many Macau names have sold yet.

If interest is high, then all good Macau names will increase in value. I think it is way past time the names start selling.

Why have not the big players been buying up all the great Macau names that we own?. Why the lack of Macau names selling?

I say this as I have never seen so much money change a market in such a short time period, with all the investments in the gambling district. That should have had a carry over for strong Macau names being sold. Yet few have sold so far.

I think Moniker is very wise to get this auction going, but will demand for these names finally come in?

Exactly, and until then, it's a waiting game. I don't have macau names, but I did jump on board the Reem Island train :hehe: - I expect to wait 2-3 years on the names I have, until the end-users come knocking.

Macau names have MASSIVE potential. Already Macau has surpassed Las Vegas as the number one casino gaming destination of the world. And they are still planning to build another 10 to 12 incredible Casino Mega-Resorts on the Cotai Strip!!

I have many Macau names and consider Macau an opportunity right up there with Reem Island.

try the papaya bar at the grand waldo hotel and the tenmasa jap restaurant at crown casino. la rubichon at lisboa is great but expensive. Dee dees is the the spot to go 1am till dawn. bellini bar at venetian has some great music and interesting acts including the stunning russian blonde twin acrobats. now thats a show! hopefully ROKA will be open when you get to the venetian.

Time is my limitation, back to Chiangmai tomorrow. But having seen the Venetian in all it's unfinished glory yesterday one comment Wowderful!

I have been to many places around the world and wow rarely is something I would say - but the Venetian - a gihuge spectacular resort- wow!

The rest of the strip is a building site but it won't be too long and the Galaxy Mega will be up and running , along with the City Of Dreams and all the other hotel resorts and associated attractions .

I hear Vegas is hoping to become the Macao/u of the west

The gambling name auction - it's a first in Macau- it's silent - I doubt there will be much publicity here.I think the auction will be attended by onliners not in Macau so probbaly depends on how CAC /Moniker have promoted it.

thats true for the local market, but the casinos are owned by the most agressive investors in the world, they are mostly operators of gambling establishments in places like vegas. Thinking that they know what they are doing why in the world do they wait until the names are thrown in front of their faces to bid against others to purchase them?.

A person would think that grabbing names for Macau and especially ones for traffic would be a high priority. I guess not.

Is their marketing company missing the boat?

there is a big turnover and demand for senior management in macau, they are gone before they can actually implement something at the moment. the domain market is still 3-4 years away. it will take a little time for the huge casino taxes to filter through to the economy past the the corrupt officials who have major gambling problems. the need is infrastructure 1st tourism 2nd.

the casinos will start to agressively market themselves from 2010 onwards when most are operational. whats the most cost effective way to advertise your product, service or promotion(apart from word of mouth)? the internet! and they will need memorable gems like visitmacau,com macauexpo,com (not mine) etc etc :imho:
