Luxury.us just sold on Sedo for $2,500. Not a bad sale, but defininately not as high as it could have gone for.

I would have ripped someone's arm off if they offered me $2,500 for luxury.us (assuming I was the owner)

Interesting you guys think it should've gone for much more, but not a bad sale, since this is .us land :)

Seems cheap to me.

Great generic with lots of high margin potential.

People are eventually going to wake up and realize that .us is a much better and more affodable buy than .coms. Search engines don't discriminate for keywords with different extensions, so more businesses will continue migrating towards the .us market space. If Neustar had an ounce of marketing cohones, .us prices would be 10 times what they are now within 2 or 3 years....

I agree this one was cheapish. In a few years we will look at this one as a bargain.
That's the kind of name to keep and develop.

So, according to your analogy, what would make luxury.gd worth less then luxury.us? The search engine analogy has been used countless times, but IMO, it really isnt a "distinguishing" factor for an extention.

.us represents a large market and the same cannot be said for .gd or other exotic extensions so .gd is not in the same league.
.gd is just the ccTLD for Grenada and the lcoal market it's pretty limited. I don't really think it makes sense to use that TLD outside Grenada.

I wouldn't have sold true.us for $2500.

Btw, is anyone else getting a bunch of lowball offers on their single word .US names? I've had to set minimums on names like gems.us, brakes.us and exhausts.us because of silly $100 offers on Sedo.

I often get lawball offers on Sedo and it's not just the .us :)
$175 for adc.us, "reseller price"... yeah.
As a result I have removed the for sale option on quite a number of names. If a buyer wants a name they will get in touch via whois.

pretty easy to get infinitely better keywords than 'true' for high 3 figures. i got 'lesbian' as an example.

Comparing apples and oranges, given its nature "Lesbian" is a keyword out of bounds to many commercial buyers -- particularly as .US cannot have registration privacy. As for "infinitely better", it's all subjective but "lesbian" is not the premium name here, that would be "lesbians".

According to Google, Lesbian in the singular is much more searched than plural:

1. lesbian (95,500,000)
2. lesbians (26,400,000)

I believe you posted how many listings in Google contain that word, not how much it is searched for.

Who is likely to visit lesbian? It's either going to be a porn site, or a community/advocate site for lesbians. Either way, the plural makes more sense.

OVT is down, but according to Wordtracker:

girls = 55757
lesbians = 55046
lesbian = 53144
girl = 20540

Actually surprised me how close it is, so I guess I just proved myself wrong. Either way, given the choice I'd take the plural any day.

Ditto fonzie

That was a LOW LOW sale for that name, I would think .Info might have fetched as much, Any solid generic name in most extensions, would sell for $2,500, I have hung onto the vast majority of my one word generic dot US, and will continue to, the renewals are cheap, the names monetize very well via parking companies, and make a some cash parked.
