I've finished my portfolio site, http://www.luckybuddha.nu/. I'm happy with the overall layout, but I'm still not happy with the text on the banner. What do you think? Any suggestions?

Thanks

Not a bad site.
The banner needs to change, the Buddha doesn't do you any justice with your portfolio that presents rather clean cut designs. You should rework the Buddha and move away from the cartoon image.
I'd have wished for more content in the portfolio section, however, it's a good start.
If you can, add a flash section and demo some movement on your site. It's the way to go in web design, even though you may not get hired to do flash/animations but it shows your skills, which is instrumental to succeed.

The coloring of the page(s) is probably your personal choice, something more "dynamic" would suit you though.

All in all, great start, but some improvements and added content are needed.

The homepage for a portfolio site needs to look sharp and clean and should showcase your ability to create graphics and program. I'm sure you have these skills so you should put them to good use. As a web designer, your homepage is your shopfront so you should concentrate your best work into this page.

YEs I agree with the last poster..you have to have a killer front page as a web designer..something to really show off your work and talents.
The site is nice and clean code wise untill I do a CSS checker on it..you claim to be compliant cos you have the CSS w3c banner on your site but infact your page is anything but compliant.
It fails mainly because of opacity settings that not all browsers work with correctly.Also theres 29 other errors that are mainly to do with not setting up the backgrounds correctly.
Heres another tip for you
#TB_window {
font : 12px Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;
color : #333333;
}
Where ever possible you should change the Long hex codes to short ones like this.
#TB_window {
font : 12px Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;
color : #333;
}
Also use EM instead of pixels for defining sizes of fonts..this also helps out.

Marky;)
