I would be greatful if any users of the connection in this title for them to go to www.killersarequiet.com and tell me how well the website loads for them, the browser it was tested in and how fast it was in your opinion. i want to do this just to find out it is running well for everyone not just me!

also can people visit www.namepros.com/showthread.php?p=729066 for my other thread about browser rendering i'd like your opinions on please.

You don't need to ask others for this...you can easily do the math yourself.

For instance, a 56k user gets about 40k on average, so thats about 5KB/sec download time. Just look at the page, and total up the amount of KBytes of data the browser has to GET and divide it by the relative speed of your visitor.

I wouldn't worry about it too much though. Few people still have dialup htese days when you can get DSL for $20/month.

in england it is a different story, it costs alot more and i don't have the extra to pay for it. Anyways i just was wondering if i can get someone with 56k to test the speed.

i have dialup but sometimes it loads slow then fast, i clear cache etc and it still is the same, i just need a second opinion.

I connected on dial up and it's not that bad.

By the way, most people in England now have DSL. It costs less than £17.99 a month so I wouldn't worry too much.

It loaded really quickly for me but I'm on DSL

that is inaccurate... 3/4 the U.S. is still on dialup.
AFFORDABLE highspeed internet is very centralized.

hell i didnt even get LOCAL dialup until 3 yrs ago.
before that I had to pay estra $30 month for a"metro" line just to get dialup without incurring long distance charges.

com companies don't want to expand outside the cities. Not enough profit margin in users per mile of hard wiring.

is why sat nets such as direct tv hasn't went under. and get away with $600 for equipment AND $60 month or $100 month and they supply equipment for a deposite.

dialup is still very much used.
and will be till govt forces improvments. companies just won't spend the money to expand.
