I regg'd a .biz domain yesterday through my GD account.
When I checked the name it was available and I immediately registered it.
My receipt has a time stamp on it as of: June 21, 2007 1:45:11 PM GMT=20:45:11

About an hour later I receive an email stating that the domain was not available for registration. Today I check the whois and find that it is now registared and was registared @ Thu Jun 21 20:45:21 GMT 2007 , 10 secs AFTER I registared it!

I have contacted GD and they told me to contact Neustar.
I contacted Neustar.biz and they told me "First come, first served" and to contact GD. Well, I am the first one...

Any ideas of how to get my domain back...? :'(

Unfortunately - as you so clearly pointed out - its not right. But, much like life - things arent fair. You roll with the punches and move on. Unfortunately, GoDaddy can do their best to get the registry, but if an error occurs and someone beats you to it - its a shame. Who was the new registrar? was it GD?

Pretty interesting that 2 peopple tried to register the same name (.biz!) within seconds of eachother...

The other registar was Moniker...

The .com version of the domain was sold for over $40k yesterday @ TRAFFIC NYC.

Moniker is always quicker to the registry in my experience.

Sorry.

This has happened to me more times than I like to recall with Godaddy.

I now use Namecheap.com for drops. Namecheap seems to be much more uptodate than Godaddy.

I check a just available dropped domain with Namecheap and then go to Godaddy. Godaddy reports domain not available.

Go back to Namecheap - I can successfully register the domain.

I maintain a small credit balance there and use it to register domains I want and feel will not last.

I don't have any STOCK in namecheap.com - but I recommend their almost instant domain registration.

Thanks, I will keep that in mind especially since I already have an account there.

Does Namecheap offer backorder service? I am looking for another registar that does, since GD is worthless... :td:

I say this in the most unbiased way that I can, but NamePros own enom system is faster than my own enom account, and propogates instantly.
If you need something "now" - I would recommend here (No "checkout screens" to plow through, just two clicks and you're done!).
