Hello everyone,

I'm looking for some fresh, honest reviews about my site, www.compuforums.org, particularly on the skin.

If you have any comments at all, negative or positive, let me have them and I can do something about it. But if you're going to say "This site is crap", then you might want to say why you think it's crap :)

The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.

Right.
I think the logo is poor and i don't like the kind of purple forum headers.

Other than that the skin is good.

Thank you.

I will do a decent new logo when time allows, plus those headers usually look purple on TFT monitors when you're not looking at them head-on - I will tint them a bit more blue, though.

I'd say the headers are blue not purple, but they seem a bit bright compared to the rest of the site. I think your ad banner needs to be moved away from your logo a bit. Like, align it to the right edge, or center it in between your logo and the right edge.

its "just another forum". In the grand scale of things, only well designed forums really work nowadays. Especially seeing as yours is one of hundreds of other computer forums out there. You see, Namepros can look like this (although this is kinda nice) because they have the userbase, and stuff. Also it is a very light and airy style and is easy on the eyes and nice to navigate. I don't think that yours is very easy on the eyes. The colours are harsh and they are dark, giving the site a gothic feel. I also see too many Windows "My Computer" icons on the page.

I think, and this I will say over and over again, if a forum is to suceed it needs to be "special".

Here is what I think you should do. I think that you should redesign the site completely, incorporating in a few other things, such as articles and tutorials. The forum can still be the main part though, with the homepage displaying "latest topics" and stuff from the forum. Have a membership section that runs off the forum membership, so people have to sign up to your forum, giving the impression of more members. I think that overall you need a better "skin" definitely, with less computers.

Thanks for your input guys.

So far I have made the blue that some saw as purple "bluer".

I'm also searching the web right now for some nicer new posts/no new posts icons.

I will be adding several mods later, which should spice things up a bit.

First off the loading time is ridiculously slow. The design is quite basic and needs a makeover. It looks very boxy and similar to a free layout you get when you first install forums. :imho: you need to spice it up. The load time should be your main concern.

The maintenance script could have been running when you visited, can you please check if it's still slow?

Also, I will be working on a better template soon.
