Sorry if this is the wrong forum - I wasn't sure ??

Anyway, I would like to know what you guys think; I have just reged an LLLL.net which dropped earlier this week, I just liked the look of it and I could think of all sorts of development opportunities. The letters are very good and in a very appealing order (don't think sex, think commercial).

I then checked to see what else was available with the same name, to my surprise (shock to be honest :) ) The .com, .org, .biz, .us and some SLD's are reged by a financial company and the .co.uk and another one which I can't remember is reged by a large shipping company. There are also variations on the name reged, i.e. LL-LL.com, LL-LL.net by other businesses. This got me thinking so I googled it and I have discovered that the letters are also abbreviations of a hotel business and an aerospace company (which use the abreviation LLLL to refer to themselves in their literature).

So what I have done is basically shot emails out to all of these saying I have it for sale in an attempt to get a private auction situation going.

Has anybody here been in a similar situation? (this is my first possible biggy), I know it's hard but what do you think this could go to? What I am thinking is if somebody comes in and says "this is my one and only offer - take it or leave it" I might be tempted to buckle at a low amount ;)

Might I be better off sticking it on EBay? Or am I just getting carried away in the moment LOL.

Thanks for the advice guys!

"I have discovered that the letters are also abbreviations of a hotel business and an aerospace company (which use the abreviation LLLL to refer to themselves in their literature). "

It's possible because of them using it in their literature, it's protected by common law trademark and is contestable in court as such. You contacting them to sell it could be construed as "bad faith". Not to say this would happen, but it's "possible".

Good luck, in any case!
