Looking at buying a misspelled domain name

Hi

I am looking at buying a .com misspelled name that is getting over 250,000 searches monthly for the correctly spelled term on the overture keyword selector tool. Basically I am looking at swapping two of the correctly spelled letters around to register a domain and am wondering if more experienced domainers would think this would produce any decent traffic or whether I am wasting my time. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

Regards
David

actually ALL typos of .com have already been hunted down by the big fish. Have you checked if the typo gets any traffic?? If yes I highly doubt it's still free to register.

Not true. There are many typo opportunities out there but for sure all the big typo opportunities of EXISTING big sites are long gone.

But mergers and new company names happen every day. Whats the new Amex Financial advisors entity called..?

The key thing to remember is that you only do typo domains if there is a target site. exampelsite is only a "good" typo if examplesite.com existed and if exampel was a "good" typo and if "the target" example site was big in traffic or big in keyword ad value. Think BIG.

SO unless your keyword domain correctly spelled isnt a good target site the FOGETTABOUTIT.

Typo biz is for typo pros. But its fun.

well, you would use the OVT suggestion tool to check typo.tld in order to see if it has traffic at all before regging anything. I crawled Alexa Top 100 for the US, UK and even smaller european countries. It was so tedious to check all domains and all typos possible (using a tool) and I became quite frustrated that even all european domain typos have been already regged, too.

So yes, you can wait for mergers or new companies but forget in having traffic typos very soon showing on OVT, you surely wouldn't reg all typos possible right away before knowing if it will produce any traffic.
