Think logically.
Of course short is better.
But not always. QVGF is worse than BECEO, imho.

Depends on purpose of the domain.Generally short one is better than long one.

The answer is so obvious I can only assume you didnt ask the question right!

Shorter is always better, ALL other things being equal.

However, it is still vitally important to get the meaning of the domain accross right.

i.e.

Weddingcakesforsale.com is going to do a LOT better for you in search engines than even a LLLL domain like wcfs.com

But.. go as short as you can whilst getting the message accross.

The exception to this is when you are just going for a brand...

i.e. Twitter.com works better than updatedpostsaboutyourlife.com :P

I would say that it depends.Sometimes, if the domain is too short until no one would ever recognise what type of website is it, it would be a trouble.I personally prefer short domain anyway.

Asking youself whether a domain is better short or long is irrelevant in my opinion. Ask youself....What is the purpose of your domain, is it memorable, is it worth the price your paying for it? Is it right for me? If these questions lead you to a domain then you should pick it regardless of its length...

Good luck!

Long domain name is also good as long as the name easy to remember by visitor.

As said above by some expert domainer. Short domain always work great for you. If we think practically none is going to write a domain name that contain more than 8-10 characters. Everyone likes to see the site open with a shorter characters that is what I feel.
Also there is some exception, I have experienced that if you know such a popular domain name i.e michaeljackson.com, barakobamacountry.com, worldgreattrips.com, etc...could be the difference.

most of the people prefers short names most likely of one word.but not always you would be able to represent the theme of your website.so it is the best to choose a name of optimum says that is not very long and at the same time makes it easier to people to understand what is your site all about

shorter is the best but it should be a easy name, not so hard spelling

Hi

You should select the domain name by related to the content. Short domain name is ok. but its somewhat meaningful.

Thanks.

the shorter the easier to remember. however long domains can be good with the right keywords.

Short domains are always going to have a liquidity that even the best keyword domains can never match...... I consider LLL.coms and LLLL.coms the only TRUE investments in domaining as far as building a very liquid large portfolio....

Depends on how much long and your choice? :) if it is memorable and meaningful don't count the number of letters in domain name, just buy it!

Short domain aren't always better. That is a domainer myth. As someone who has developed websites I can tell you that the golden rule for domain selection is to choose a domain that is the easiest to remember even if its a little long.

shorter is better. When the name is long, even when it can be remembered, still people may type it wrong, the more key strokes the more likely it will go to the wrong competing site. Remember human can only store 4 or 5 letters in their brain buffers +:)

with my little experience, short is better. however, a long keyword-rich domain could be of much value too.
