Logo & mascot for XP.com - $100 and $50

Needed: logo and mascot

I'm looking for a snazzy new logo and mascot for xp.com as part of the site redesign. Xp is all about experiencing the Internet and the mascot needs to be an edgy in-your face kind of creature. My initial thoughts were something similar to a crazed bunny like in Sam & Max (http://www.samandmax.net/). I'd prefer the logo and mascot to be in a vector format, though PSD (at large resolution) might be acceptable.

Two elements need to be in the design:
1) "XP" - just the letters, don't worry about adding ".com" unless it benefits the design
2) And a crazy mascot, maybe a rabbit. Should be an edgy look. Should be hand-designed.

The two elements don't necessarily need to interact unless it benefits the design.

Contest ends in a couple weeks, sooner if winner is found. I'll give 24 hours notice prior to it ending. Winner gets $100 and runner up gets $50 via Paypal.

I picked it up a long time ago in 1996. At the time, there were around 30 two-character .com's still available. Being an RPG fan, I liked eXPerience.

I might have registered more, but they were a little strict about having a separate company behind each domain back then I think.

Webmonkey, sorry, the xp doesn't look unique enough and the rabbit is too simple.

Flavian, it's a start, but the rabbit features and character could be stronger.

The animal doesn't have to be a rabbit, but whatever it is, it should be edgy. Some acceptable styles are: college sports team mascots, the shark at zipperfish.com, the cartoon characters at www.arnomation.com/character-logo-design.html

Since it's just two characters, you should hand design the "XP" rather than use a stock font.

Fried-chicken, it's a bit too simple for what I'm looking for.

Zanzan, nice, but perhaps too similar to the Sam & Max rabbit. The retro-look is cool, but maybe give it some unique character? I'm not crazy about the tongue, maybe a stylish toothy smile would work better. Also would like the whole body and not just the head.

Cybore, definitely like what you created and it's nice how the rabbit interacts with the logo. Some ways to improve it might be to make it less cute/kiddy-ish and more geared for an older audience--more rebellion in the ears, facial expression and pose. Would like final design to have at least two colors (though I understand we're still at an early design stage yet). Your design is in the lead right now.

Smeck, interesting start, but I need something with more complex character.

Smeck, still not quite what I'm looking for, sorry. The sharp nails are somewhat threatening and it's hard to separate the XP from the animal at a glance. I do like your use of colors and shading.

Saves Th3 Day, very nice. It's definitely in the style of what I'm looking for. Some ideas on improvement: a stronger more aggressive/cooler stance, maybe play with the ears more so they're emotive and less evil(?), maybe have him lean on the XP? You and cybore are the front-runners.

p.s. If you had to embody some non-verbal emotion or message in the character's stance and expression, it might be "check this out" or "come get some of this".

I'm posting the character I worked on last night...with no color added yet. I have another version of the same character, but more buff with a different pose that I worked on tonight. When I finish it, I'll post it as well. You can then choose which one you prefer so I can add color to it.
