Hi folks,

i'm in need for a logo and banner for www.reviewcharts.com

the site will be dealing with consumer ratings of all kinds, from hospitality (restaurants/hotels, etc) to industry, electronics, businesses and everything in between.

The logo should present the domain name & something that is a synonym for ratings/charts,...

The banner should represent the same logo and eventually be in flash. the text portion that's animated should present categories of your choice; businesses, hotels, websites, cellphones, etc. you get the picture.

the contest is open 'til Friday, March 9th OR until we have a definitive winner.

Please post your designs here, this way we can comment on them on the fly.

There are no set rules as to the design, be as creative as you want to be; it comes down to "does your work speak to us"

Payment to the winner will be $60 via PayPal. Should the logo and banner be something absolutely screaming and unique, we may up the price money.

Thanks in advance and best of luck!

EDIT!: Logo needs to be resizable for business card/letter head and other use.

Interesting interpretation with the statistic like bars, they practically work as a secondary branding element. The primary branding element being....the font? I wonder if there's a more elaborate way to signify a primary branding element. #2 is definitely my favorite here. The font is right on target, the coloring needs some work, though. There are a few too many colors in it. Ideally a mix between #3 & #2 would probably be the best way to go. Then there's always the question; how would it look in a flash banner that's animated with certain categories, electronics, bars, etc.

Also an interesting interpretation; pie chart with break out. The font doesn't rank high with me, though. Also, the break out piece can be a bit smaller and would give you the opportunity to reposition the ReviewCharts element.

For all designs: Please attempt to create a primary and secondary branding element. The primary element would certainly relate to reviews/charts/opinions/reviews, etc. The secondary element can be category driven. All categories apply. The secondary element would also build the segue for the flash banner with its animation.

The bottom one, Blue-Green is your best one, yet.

As stated in the description of the contest: we're looking for a logo and a flash banner. (2 elements in this contest)
The banner should consist of the logo (static) and animated content, which can be text content: Electronics, Bars, Business...
While the animated text content is in the banner only, the secondary branding element in the logo can signify that reviewcharts is more than just a great looking logo, but is actually reviewing all elements of business, items, music, etc.
Hope this makes more sense. if there are any other questions about the thought process, please keep them coming, i aim to be as precise as possible to make the design work easier.

thanks

Unfortunately I don't know flash. Please let me know if you wish me to continue working on my concept knowing that the flash would need to be done by someone else.

I could see this working well in flash with various slices of the pie chart expanding to show various categories.

I could see it working as well, however, just like you, i cannot work flash either, which puts you at a limit. Please leave your design up, maybe you can collaborate with a flash designer and for the case that your team wins, maybe share the amount?

I'll leave my entry up and if near the end of the contest you do not get entries you like more I could see if any of the other contestants would like a go at the flash for this.

Here is the pie chart made from a globe. All vector so anything can be changed.

unfortunately no sample. What i'm looking for is an animated banner. the logo can be static, however there should be moving elements or things that change in this banner. e.g.: logo on the left hand side of the banner, categories in text format or icons are animated and changing from the middle to the right hand side of the banner.
color and creativity is open, it really depends on what speaks to us best, thus, we made this a contest with the ability for designers to be truly creative.
hope this helps.

still open for submissions. If you're not versed in Flash, i'll make it $30 for the logo alone. Payable via Paypal to the winner. I'll take care of the flash banner.

So, keep the submissions coming, thanks!

Here are a couple of font variations for your consideration. I also cleaned up the chart a bit and added a faint gradient to each breakout slice to give them a more rounded appearance.

Yep, i like it. The only thing that throws me off is the font. The Copperplate is really not the real deal, you're right on that one. I'm looking for a modern, round style, not sure which one would apply to that.
One day to go, if no one else comes in we're going to have an easy decision here. :)
