Hi Guys I saw the news about the launch of the .LOCKER domain and it seems interesting because I see the rapid steps taken by Trust Machines to make this domain compatible with the bitcoin ecosystem.

.locker seems to be intended as a bridge between web2 and web3 massively.

I see one of my.locker projects is a gateway for user access. Some names like btc, bitcoin, etc have been reserved. Will this be one of the extensions that exist in the future?

I also have a unique name that I think is valuable, namely XBT.locker, this name represents the holigab bitcoin group and a strong community.

What do you think about this project and its future extensions?

How is it different than every other extension, which make similar claims.

The general public seems to have limited interest in oddball extensions.

Yes. I also saw this. However, .locker can be accessed via web2 like other traditional domains. This is what made me interested in this project.

Well, at least it has that going for it.

Still, that just makes it one of thousands of obscure extensions.

All these companies make big claims, yet hardly anyone seems to care.

hmm yeah makes sense. i just don't see any web3 domains that are fully integrated with web2 yet. and another point is .locker is being built seriously by some companies like tucows, orange domain, etc. hopefully this will be a big thing. i'm just chasing early

.LOCKER is an innovative concept bridging Web2 and Web3, offering a seamless integration with the Bitcoin ecosystem. It allows users to securely store and manage their digital assets while enhancing the user experience by combining the strengths of both centralized and decentralized systems. This integration creates a more robust and efficient digital ecosystem, enabling users to interact with Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies seamlessly.
For reliable hosting solutions to support such innovative projects, consider VPS Hosting to ensure your platform runs smoothly with high-speed performance and security.

Great point. What do you think about this extension going forward?

It is a question of marketing but no project really seems to take the lead here. It could add value to the TLD but let's wait for round 2 of new gTLDs to see which bitcoin type TLD makes the difference. There will probably be a .BITCOIN and another dozen of similar strings covering the bitcoin universe.

yes 100% agree. for web3 domain extension .BITCOIN has been launched by unstoppable domain since 2021. I also have several. but it is only a digital identity, users cannot access it via DNS. I think, if .LOCKER is really serious about building this, it will be a big project.

Too early. After 10 years of Round1, ple ty of generic second level domains are available for grab. Many years ago, I proceeded your way with an alternative called new.net (or something like that) which allowed to buy keywords on MS browser. It failed. I feel the exact same about Web3 domains. I tried to get one free to understand how they work but I won't invest 1 cent in them.

this is a great valuable lesson from a legend. Thank @guillon ๐Ÿซก for sharing your opinion here. I am still a newbie here. I am just trying to find alternative extensions other than com net org etc.

one question, what domain extension do you think has the greatest opportunity and potential as an alternative to com in the future?

It really depends. What I do for my business is using a descriptive TLD, like a niche for example, but I secure the same .com in case a "domain name investor" would want to do shit with it. Try Jovenet.com and see what happens.

Basically same like .box. Have you check those? Itโ€™s both ENS and DNS. Traction is still quite niche.
