Loans.biz sold for $1,205.
namepros .com/threads/wine-mx-sold-for-25-001-selexium-fr-for-7-000.892326/

.biz extension is 15 years old and there are more than 2 million registered .biz domains.
.biz registry is making a lot of money but one of the best .biz domain sells only for $1,205.

What do you think? Why do you think other new gtlds will be different for domainers?

Personal opinion... times are changing.
Demand for domains outside of the big 3 (.COM, .NET, .ORG) is changing along with the rapid growth of nTLDs.
People who buy outside of the big 3 will see that there is now more competition which by law of economics drives down the price.

I have a feeling that after some time (several years) there will start to be a mix up of sorts in domain names and their prices. I think this will also affect the big 3 (although they will be the last one to feel it) much the same as they are doing to other gTLDs that you made reference to above.

Personal thought is that a domain should always be vigilant and look for the best names (category killer keyword names) in any given extension and if (s)he can find them for reg. fee, then they would be doing themselves a disservice by not picking them up.
Stay away from over inflated priced "premium" names from the registries.

As far as nTLDs being different, I dont think they are different... they are moving the pricing field for sure. I think we as domainers have to be smart when it comes to nTLDs and realize that because a keyword or set of keywords is considered "premium" in .COM does not mean it is premium in a nTLD.
Too many people are losing sight of that notion and there will be many hurt butts as people carry a large number of nTLDs with no real prospect of unloading the.
Only category killer domain names should be looked for and picked up if they make sense with the extension and can be purchased at reg. fee.

Just my $2.01 (and they say inflation is only 2%... bahhh!)

Cheers

This is a reminder of the true value of .biz alas. We are talking about a premium keyword that is a perfect fit for the TLD.
Don't let Chinese moves fool you: biz .cm etc are not good investment options.
I have always expected that struggling extensions like .biz or .info would be hit by the new extensions. They may not sink completely, but I simply think their value is not going to appreciate much at all.

I agree Kate, I don;t have a single .biz but have a few .bz just because I was able to get some really nice single dictionary word names.

You should drop them immediately without spending anything on renewals.

For starters biz is a really weird spelling of business. I personally feel like .biz made sense in 2007.. but not so much in 2015 where there is beginning to be more choice for domainers, developers, and users alike.

I'd choose .biz over .top any day though. At least .biz is recognized and there are some legitimate web sites built on a .biz name over the years. So if you can get or already have a great .biz name that works with the extension, I say hold on to it! Renewals for .biz are not that much.
