Loading links dynamically

Ok i am currently designing my php site in Dreamweaver. I have set up a nav bar and what I want to do is, when u click on the link, underneath the "sub links" load dynamically from the the database. How do i do this?

Can you show an example of what you're trying to do?

Umm hard to explain, I have a Navbar at the top of the page and when i click a link on the menu i want the text to change in these "sub links" to display the links relevent to that topic.
