Okay,

I looked up Whois information on a LOAD of the stolen domains from the "shibuyajpn" guy and guess what I found..

99% of them have the following information in common:

Registrant:
Mehboob Charania
216 Willow Pointe Dr.
League City, Texas 77573
United States
[email protected]

Registered through: GoDaddy.com, Inc. (http://www.godaddy.com)
Domain Name: MZZV.COM
Created on: 21-Sep-06
Expires on: 21-Sep-08
Last Updated on: 10-Feb-08

Administrative Contact:
Charania, Mehboob

United States

[email protected]

Technical Contact:
Charania, Mehboob

[email protected]

Domain servers in listed order:
NS43.DOMAINCONTROL.COM
NS44.DOMAINCONTROL.COM
Now, guess what? I looked up '[email protected]' on Google and came up with a link to a Digital Point post where a very reputable member was buying "All of Your LLLL.coms for $50 each". This member, avis03, has over 1k posts and a very high iTrader rating. He/she uses the email '[email protected]' in their posts on Digital Point (link: click)-- the same email currently listed as the Administrative Contact on 90+% of the stolen domains.

The user, avis03, is offering to buy bulk LLLL.com domains for $50 apiece (link: click - from yesterday!), the very same tactic used by this scammer. So, it appears that our LLLL.com scammer is a member of the Digital Point forums. There is also a member 'avis03' here on NamePros with a closed account, but take a look at their posts: Click Here -- poor grammar, all lowercase letters, very unprofessional.. Does something ring a bell here?

It appears that one reputable member of the domain community is responsible for all of these scams. Hopefully this can be looked into and somebody with some power here can contact the administrator of Digital Point to open a full investigation.

Also, mods, please check for any logged IPs of the user 'avis03' here. They posted on dates ranging from today back to 2006 so perhaps their real IP (i.e. not a proxy) is listed on an older post.

NOTE: As I was typing this I found a Myspace page registered with the email [email protected]. The link is here and it's stated to be a 'Houston, TX' profile. The name on the profile is none other than 'Avis'.

Case closed?

EDIT: Yup, this HAS to be the guy. Take a look at this:

eBay Listings: eBay user avis03's profile - Hmm, bulk auction listings of LLLL's hosted at Godaddy, huh?
eBay Feedback: click.

Let the lawsuits begin?

New info:

http://forums.DigitalPoint/showpost.php?p=6523696&postcount=123

Apparently avis03 just so "happens" to have nearly every single domain that was stolen by people and posted on forums. Do you really think avis03, a supposed domain dealer, would really buy "wildwoodgallery.us" and "mlmhelper.com", along with other numerous random domains? Likely not. It seems that everyone who contacts him regarding stolen domains gets their names back.. Fat chance that he just by CHANCE bought every domain that was reported stolen...

Edit: Here is the .mp3 and transcript of the returned call.. I don't know how much evidence it will provide but I figured I'd post it for the time being:

http://vyfx.com/mp3/avis03-phone-call.mp3

Transcript:
"Hello, this is Mr. Charania. I just got your phone call regarding the domain names and I just wanted to let you know that I just bought those domain names from some person, like yesterday. I bought them all for $900. I did not know that they were stolen, and I paid that guy on PayPal-- whoever it was-- and I still have his PayPal ID if you want that information. But, I bought twenty domain names from him-- twenty four-letter domain names from him for $900 and he also gave me some other domain names. However, I did not realize it was another ID on DP, but it was the same PayPal address until right now. So, I guess it was the same person but different IDs. And that transaction was for about $215, so I basically paid that guy around $1,125-- $1,115 dollars. And, well, I can get the domains back to the guys who he stole from-- to the people who he stole from-- but I'm still down $1,000 if I do that. So could you please call me back at XXX-XXX-XXXX? Thank you. Bye."

He sounds sincere in the message. I hate this, I honestly don't know if he was just another person being played or if he was involved. I'm a believer that there are some people out there who will far for just about anything. I wish the police or GoDaddy or somebody would check into this, fat chance.. I know.

Basic facts 101...

This is confusing for honest people who want to be (somewhat) safe.

* How did the domains get stolen?
* Was he paying and then doing charge backs?
* Doesn't Paypal investigate and protect buyers??? (at least in blatant cases)

Paypal doesnt protect when it comes to unverified buyers or domain names

So you are "not protected", but you still get a chance to win a dispute, right?

most likely not b/c it would appear its an hacked paypal account, at least in my scam. I've had this happen before where some scammer phishes a paypal account and then goes & buys something.....unless its "tangable" and you have receipt of delivery you will get screwed. When this happened to me before it was for about $2500 in data (my normal biz) and i lost all $2500....paypal is horrible for anything thats not tangable.

okay....I don`t have time to read all the story , after the first few posts was already enough confusing but:

I`d like to point just a few things PLEASE:

1) BEFORE YOU START ACCUSING PEOPLE YOU SHOULD HAVE PROOFS (I`M NOT SAYING HE`S INNONCENT OR NOT BECAUSE I DON`T KNOW)

2) KEEP IN MIND THAT SOME OF THESE B@STARDS SCAMMERS ARE SO USED TO SCAM THAT TAKE PRECAUTIONS LIKE USING PROXIES OR HACKING AND USING SOMEONE ELSE ACCOUNTS, SO JUST DO MORE RESEARCH BEFORE TO SUE SOMEONE

3) ONCE YOU`RE REALLY SURE THAT YOU FOUND THE SCAMMER....LET US KNOW....I`M SURE MANY PEOPLE WILL LOVE TO "THANK HIM"

4) WE GOT TO DO SOME MORE EDUCATION ON PAYPAL OR PEOPLE WILL JUST GET SCAMMED AND RUN AWAY FROM THIS INDUSTRY, MAYBE IT WOULD BE WISE TO STOP SELLING DOMAINS VIA PAYPAL AT LEAST FOR A WHILE
