If you had to concentrate on one or the other which would you choose.

i think the counts are hard to keep up with.

LLLL.net's only 45% remain

LLLLL.com's there is combinations of approx 12 million

Food for thought: if you were going to buy a domain to brand a new website or product would you rather have a .com or .net

That's how I'm looking at it. But I was just interested to see what you guys thought

"Basically you just have to view Alexa top 500 and point out the LLLL.net's ...you won't find one. However you will find MANY 5L's or higher BRANDABLES."

Do you always say things as a fact when you dont know if its true? Global top 500 #201 dada.net, #257 AEBN.net

"Name me one company that's successful using a LLLL.net. "

does Visa.net count?

"If a company startup has $xxx, xxx or higher startup budget...they are going to look for dot com and brandable a lot more than some acronym in a secondary TLD."

I never made the argument that a startup would seek a .net first, doesnt mean they'll shell out big bucks for mupow.com though.

"Monetizing the LLLL.net vs the LLLL.com is vastly different. The dot com will earn as parked while the .net equivelant is going to earn peanuts in comparison."

How did LLLL.com get into this convo? Anyway it sounds like you're saying names that dont generate ppc are bad investments, i shouldnt have to tell you how wrong that is.

"If you are going to like LLLL.net's that's fine but don't create a dillusion that LLLL.com's are less attractive......"

Again, where did i mention LLLL.com? maybe that was a typo on your part, who knows

"Lastly...you say that there are millions of companies that can use a LLLL.net and boy...that's a real stretch of the imagination for me"

I dont know how many companies exist on this earth, but are you saying that i'm wrong when i say millions could use a LLLL.net? You Are you serious? You know they're some small business that dont even have a web presence right?
Not every company would be able to acquire .com domains so why would they not settle for the 2nd most popular extension?

I think this thread was for discussion on which would make the better investment, 4l.net or 5l.com. I say 4l.net because i see huge potential here. One definite advantage 4l.nets have over 5l.coms is a pretty good reseller market and its only growing. So while you're hanging on for years hoping to sell to endusers, the 4l.net reseller market will be quite strong giving investors good liquidity. Anyhow good luck with your choice, i'm not arguing about this anymore.

I might chime in a bit here myself

1. Answer: Visa.net does not count, Visa also owns Visa.com, Visa.net is just to prevent cybersquatters from sitting there

2. Startups shell out big bucks or big enough bucks for 5 letter domain names all the time, have a browse through skylineleong's thread for starters to see some examples click here to go thread

3. Jesse quite obviously did mean LLLLL.com 5 letter.com and not 4 letter LLLL.com, even a 7 year old could work that out, why kick up a fuss about it, grow up

4. I did not come here to bash llll.net so I won't go pushing some negative agenda about llll.net, but 'Tempest111' you may want to stop hyping things when you don't seem to have knowledge on your own investments, how they work or how trading in the domain market works

i was hyping because i said i think 4l.nets are better huh? Sure genius, i guess i'm a big hyper then. I posted my opinions and i'll keep doing so when i feel like it, id like to see you make me stop. Arguing over forums isnt my thing, you can keep at it if you like. Dnjournal sales and forums sales and various aftermarket sales seem to side with me though. I'll leave it at that. Have fun with timja.com and the like.

Yeah I got tired of viewing after page 2. Sorry..shouldn have been more diligent.

However you completely dismiss how I mentioned the quantity of 5L's in Alexa top 500.

I had some listed when my browser crashed.

I brought in LLLL.com's because they are closer to LLLL.nets than 5L's are. We have obvious correlations of CCC.com to CCC.net, LLL.com to LLL.net, and now LLLL.com to LLLL.net. Overall the value isn't significant percentage wise. It's less than 10%. So as LLLL.com's are near $30-$50 resale one can assume the LLLL.net is reg fee. LLL.com is $8k and LLL.net is about 10% of that at $800. So you hopefully see how I base my opinion.

I don't see how you draw your conclusions though.

Not every company would be able to acquire .com domains so why would they not settle for the 2nd most popular extension?

I don't agree. You can view sales charts to see the trend of what's being sold...it's dot coms. Again...look to Alexa to see how popular dot com is.

I don't think you are hyping LLLL.net's but I think this thread is about "LLLL.net or LLLLL.com if you could only pick one"...I think the logical discussion is based on how you decide which is better. I think 5L's are and I state my reasons.

I never made the argument that a startup would seek a .net first, doesnt mean they'll shell out big bucks for mupow.com though.

I haven't said 5L's will command "big bucks" but on that same note...a company isn't going to pay a premium for LLLL.net either. And if both were the same price...I can guarantee they will choose the brandable 5L over a cruddy LLLL.net which they can't even correlate into their business.

You mention Visa.net. That's pronouncable and is closer to quality with a 5L. 5Ls are only valuable imho if brandable and pronouncable. gzqex.com is crap just the same as zqex.net. However one serious benefit of 5L's is that there are plenty to still grab that are pronouncable. That leaves a lot of room for upside. I picked mine up between reg-fee and $40. I have already sold a few for mid $xxx too.
